what method would you use?

hi,
im nearly finished with getting my website up and running but haven't thought too much about advertising it.Where would you recommend starting off with this without putting too much money into it?
ive got the simplest website going but i don't even know how to get it to show in search engines and stuff.
could anyone give me a little advice please?

you can also pay, small amounts, to get people to promote your site for you.

Also take advantage of adwords vouchers that appear, they cost £5 to register but should get you a few visitors!

thanks for that,i heard about the adwords vouchers somewhere before but not sure where,i think i'll have a look around later for a few hours and see what i can find.

Yeah if you sign up to Google Adwords you can start a campaign around your website and customise it to advertise when people enter certain keywords/search terms into google. Only trouble is, it costs a small amount every time someone clicks on your website, so you have to make sure your website it pretty polished in order to make it worth while.
