A question on Ebay T&C's

I sell quite a lot on Ebay, does anyone know if Ebay would have a problem with me putting the link to my website on my listings? Or would they even know? Thanks

They would have a problem and would remove your listing. They might not find it, but more often than not they do. It's a method that for historical reasons you aren't really supposed to talk about on here (do a search for Ebay and see what I mean).

I mean talk about on here.

You mean make a listing but just have your website there? Yeah they would take the listing down.

What buyers? What are you selling?

If you mean past buyers then I guess you could. It might be classed as spamming though so you just take the risk whether or not you will get caught or not.

That sucks, thanks anyway. Sell all sorts, lots of old games, so the kind of people it could potentially be applicable to. Dont really want to get banned from Ebay, so might just leave it

Not that I'm advocating the method (it doesn't work anyway), but you could just set up a dummy account that you don't mind getting closed down.

i have an idea which i think id perfectly acceptable. why don't you give away a "FREE guide on how to use the internet to get things for free" with every purchase. you could even create a shop for your items.
when people see they get something free with a purchase they will most definitely take a look when they recieve it
you aren't breaking ebay's T&Cs because it's just marketing for your shop/products

Well not really, I thought barcelonic meant that when you're selling a genuine item, just throw in a free guide along with it. It's no different to putting a flyer or similar in there advetising an ecommerce website.

Lol, it's cool

Although technically speaking you could maybe sell a guide as an e-book, I'm sure they're allowed, can anyone confirm?

If they're not allowed then there's a lot of people breaking the T&Cs on there lol!

Then of course there's always the option to write a guide... again I'm not sure how this works, maybe somebody can clear it up?

eBay UK don't allow the sale of digital media following a rule change earlier in the year. Not sure if you could sell an e-book on CD though, giving you a product that you can physically deliver?

yeah I noticed this, and now all eBook auctions have a little note saying "sent via cd" but its actually still a eBook, sent via e-mail

Thanks for this info, so imho if you were going send a CD through the post, you might aswell send a leaflet/booklet instead - yyes a physical printed guide on how to get freebies. That way I'd have thought you'd have a much better chance of the person actually reading the guide. (It's much easier to read a leaflet than it is to turn on you PC, wait for it to boot, put the CD in and read on-screen).

What about when you sell your item, whatever it may be, you could stuff a leaflet or a business card advertising your website on there? Play.com do that all the time when you buy something
