Right, I've never made a site before, but i've decided to get off ebay as i'm breaking the rules
so for now I'm gonna go with a freewebs one to see how good they are and then advertise the hell out of it
and i was wondering, how do i get it on search engines
and any other ways to increase traffic would be great, or any tips about it would be helpfull

Both my sites are from freewebs. Im a complete novice on site building, and these 2 are the first I have ever made (im actually still working on them, as i messed them up the other day!!!) If you're going to use freewebs, i recommend buying the premium upgrade to get rid of the banner ads, as people will be put off by this. I also bought domain names for mine (from freewebs) and attach them to make it look it a little more pro.

After you have dont that, you need to get it indexed. I would recommend using twitter to do this, its just a simple blog and social networking tool, but is very frequently crawled by google, so you should get indexed quite quickly if you make a post including your URL.. also submit to digg, that will help.

Once you are indexed which may take anywhere from a couple of days to weeks, you jsut need to apply some good SEO to climb the rankings.. like i said, i am no pro on this, am only on page 4 for my iphone site, but this only indexed a week or so ago...

No, just log into your account every 30 days and it doesn't appear.

I tried Adwords when someone posted a free £50 voucher, didn't really do much for me so I wouldn't bother.

Hey. Time for a threadjack.

Ive tried my first attempt at a site. Suppose its all time consuming to get it running perfectly and getting it to look good. I think my banner is just a little bit too big.

but at least mine rhymes! haha. Hopefully it will stick in peoples heads.

It doesn't take that long. You could go from nothing to having a domain, hosting, and a site in a few hours. I just set aside one sunday to get my site exactly as I wanted it and I was done.

After that it is just a case of making minor alterations here and there as you go along and get new ideas etc. Not very time consuming at all.

Then i bought a .com with godaddy.. which was only £3 for the year

the time consuming part is getting it up the ranks in google... it's probably the more important part. It could be the best looking site ever but if it's not highly ranked in google no-one will see it!
