Getting referrals from online forums

That would be absolutely pointless. Think about it, if one person does it, then everyone else is gonna start doing it and no ones actually gonna bother signing up as a referral.

Basically you have to go about it carefully, worked for me before but havnt bothered in a long time. Just slip it into releated discussions and dont just make a new thread titled "free ipod", if the site shows signatures that is also useful so a discrete link or logo can go there. I managed to do quite well on digital spy in my freepay days, but dont try it folks they let me off with so many warnings because of my multiple "younger brothers using my account). Think i got banned in the end, but dont really care as it sucked anyway!

with forums if you just join and spam you will get banned, what ever it is you are spamming.

if your already a member of a community then ask one of the staff if its ok to include it in your signature or something

If you have a freebie website you could try and add a link to your website in a round about kind of way.

I've noticed people often post portfolio links or links to photobucket sites or deviantart sites. If you have a graphics portfolio include a few advert type images for your freebie site or redirect link and have a link pointing to that in your signature. Or if you have developed a few websites link to them as well as your freebie site then it just looks like you've included your freebie site in your portfolio links.
