Template Emails

Okay, I have seen tons of threads throughout exceem asking for template emails to send to yellows. I have posted the ones I use previously in various threads but I thought it best to put it in one thread and maybe a mod can sticky??

Below are two emails I use and generally get a decent response. I usually get a 10-20% response from the first one, though often it is just "hey thanks I decided not to do it". The second one is usually a slightly better response and they usually have a lot of questions about freebie sites etc. which I am obviously happy to answer as they have done an offer for me.

I am putting these in "normal" Exceem rather than extra as I reckon that as you are emailing people who have already signed up no one will be missing out if I make it generally available. If people think it should go in Extra then feel free to move it though.

Also if people have their own emails that they use or amendments/improvements to these then please add to the thread. I think morro suggested to me I might want to include a bit about how not to get put on hold on the Freebie site but I haven't got round to it.

Tip Number 1
Set up a dedicated email account for this and set it up in a girls name - people are more likely to respond to a woman in my experience. I use Sarah Jane Harding and I think that helps as well as people are curious about the name (similair, but not identical, to the Girls Aloud singer).

Tip Number 2
In order to save time copy and paste the emails below and send them to yourself so you can just forward them on rather than having to come back to this thread everytime.

Tip Number 3

Remember a lot of people will sign up and never go green or even respond. Don't worry about it. If they haven't responded or gone green within a week write them off as most people check their email at least once a week.

The emails.
(1) To all yellows
I send this to all yellows, trying to keep it light and non pressurising. Insert the URL in case they have forgotten it so they can log back in and do the offer. I know at least 3 people in the last two months have done the Post Office for me after this email so I think it's worth sending.

Obviously mine is currently set up to Apple RI and all referrals are coming through my Free Iphone 4u site so I expressly mention the iPhone, but you will probably need to change it to whatever is relevant to you.

I mention the offers that I do because I genuinely think they are the best. The word "best" in these circumstances is very subjective and others may disagree and have other preferences so feel free to change that if you want - or if the offers are not available on the site you are using.

SUBJECT: iPHONE SITE
Quote:
Hey thanks for signing up under me for Apple Real Incentives (AppleIncentives)!!

I'm guessing you did so because you wanted an Iphone but didn't want to pay £270 plus the £630 in line rental!!

I'm just emailing you to let you know that in order to qualify for the iPhone (or other gift) you need to complete one of the offers, my personal recommendation is the Post Office credit card offer where you simply apply for a Post Office card. I use mine for the 0% on balance transfers which is saving me a lot in interest!!

Another good offer is the Lovefilm free DVD trial - you just sign up and get two weeks of free DVD's delivered to the door!! (Though if you are in the US the equivalent is Blockbuster - just click the US flag when you log in to see a list of US offers)

Once you have done an offer all you need to do is get some friends to do the same - which should be easy as the iPhone is a must have, but otherwise very expensive, gadget!!

If you need any help with anything just let me know and if you feel you need inspiration I recommend looking at the "I got my free item" thread on Exceem (I Got My Free Item! - eXceem). If you scroll down you should see that Real Incentives have already started giving out free iPhones to people who have qualified!

Anyway, again thanks for signing up under me and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me!
(2) To All Lovefilm Pendings
I send this one because I used to get a lot of Lovefilm reversals which used to annoy me no end! Since I have started sending it I haven't had a reversal (yet!) - it could just be coincidence I admit, but a lot of people do email me back thanking me for the tips so I think it does help.

SUBJECT: LOVEFiLM
Quote:
Hi,

Thanks for signing up to Apple Real Incentives (AppleIncentives) through me. I am just emaling because I noticed you did the Lovefilm offer and are currently "pending". What this means is that Lovefilm are waiting to see that you do the offer correctly before they say to Apple RI that they will give Apple RI their fee and they can then credit you.

As long as you do the offer correctly you will have no problems. But I know a lot of people have made mistakes when doing the offer and so I now email people with tips on what not to do so that everything goes smoothly.

The most common reasons for things going wrong are
  • people never activating their account by putting 10 DVD's in their list,
  • not receiving at least one DVD,
  • cancelling too early,
  • someone else at your address being a lovefilm member now or in the past,
  • trying to do the offer more than once.
As long as you avoid these common mistakes everything will go fine and in a few days you will change from "pending" to "offer complete" and then be eligable for your gift after getting your referrals!!

Whilst I am emailing I also highly recommend signing up at the Exceem forums (www.exceem.co.uk) for invaluable hints and tips on the whole "freebie scene".

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Hope you find them useful and feel free to suggest any changes or improvements.

Re: Template Emails

It might sound weird, but I find that emailing pendings has a worse effect than not doing so.

Possibly because they are reminded of the service and then decide to cancel? Just my experience..

Does it matter if they cancel though. If they are yellows they're not really contributing to your free gift anyway.

That's a fair point and I can see why that might happen, but in my experience I used to have about 30-40% of pendings reversed, but have had none since I started emailing them so I'm going to assume that the ones who would have cancelled have started thinking twice now.

I guess we all have different experiences with our sign ups though and should adjust our behaviour according to what we think gets the best results.

See the first post, I actually included that info! I think it's best to be relatively honest about the subject, I know the risk is they will automatically delete it but they may feel jipped if you trick them into opening it which will have the same result.

That's why I send it from an account I set up in the name of Sarah Jane Harding, use that to get them intrigued rather than the subject line.

Grand National this weekend
It did just occur to me that if you are emailing over the next few days include some wording to take advantage of the Grand National and/or FA Cup semi finals this weekend. Suggest the £5 coral offer so they can make a bet AND get a green - kill two birds with one stone! (Coral also goes green a hell of a lot quicker than lovefilm!)

I haven't done this yet because I have had no yellows to email in the last couple of days ( google drop) but if I get some I will give it a try. I think the wording I will use will be along the lines of below, it's a bit cheesy I know but should be fine. If you can tell from the email address that they are female you could also add something about how it also avoids the need to actually go into a bookies which can often be intimading hellholes if you are not used to them (though I wouldn't use those exact words!!).

Quote:
Or with the Grand National coming up this weekend you could do the Coral betting offer. You sign up to Coral, deposit at least £5 and bet the full amount on anything you like. A flutter on the National is a British tradition so why not kill two birds with one stone by making your bet AND starting yourself on the way to your free gift??
