Emailing Lovefilm Pednings

Hi. I was just wondering if many people bother to email their pending lovefilms to try and get them to complete the offer?

Obviously I know that you can't advise them on what to do, but do you email them, and if so what can you tell them?

I've got 4 pendings at the moment on one of my accounts and would really like them to go green.

I thought pending means they have doen the offer and the network just has to wait for lovefilm to confirm this, which takes 10 to 14 days

It means they've started the offer, but they still have to do a few things to complete it e.g. get some dvd's.

I think giving them a little nudge on the right direction is fine. It's hardly a walkthrough - you're just saying what they need to do to complete the offer (get a DVD) which is on the website anyway.

A few weeks ago I started sending the below email to all of my lovefilm pendings as soon as they go pending. I send it from an email address set up for that purpose in the name of "Sarah Jane Harding" and with the subject "Lovefilm" - this is to increase the chances of them actually reading it.

Since then I have had no reversals. I'm not saying it is all down to the email below (it could of course be just coincidence) but feel free to use it anyway.

Thanks for signing up to [name of freebie site] ([freebiesite URL]) through me. I am just emaling because I noticed you did the Lovefilm offer and are currently "pending". What this means is that Lovefilm are waiting to see that you do the offer correctly before they say to [freebiesite] that they will give [freebiesite] their fee and they can then credit you.

As long as you do the offer correctly you will have no problems. But I know a lot of people have made mistakes when doing the offer and so I now email people with tips on what not to do so that everything goes smoothly.

The most common reasons for things going wrong are

• people never activating their account by putting 10 DVD's in their list,
• not receiving at least one DVD,
• cancelling too early,
• someone else at your address being a lovefilm member now or in the past,
• trying to do the offer more than once.

As long as you avoid these common mistakes everything will go fine and in a few days you will change from "pending" to "offer complete" and then be eligable for your gift after getting your referrals!!

Whilst I am emailing I also highly recommend signing up at the Exceem forums (www.exceem.co.uk) for invaluable hints and tips on the whole "freebie scene".

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try. I had 2 lovefilms declined last week and 2 on hold the previous week, so I want to try something to stop that from happening.

I always send a quick email to lovefilm pending, just a short email saying well done for signing up and as a reminder don't forget you must rent atleast 1 DVD for your offer to complete. As of yet I've not had one reversed since I started emailing.

Bit late to this thread but I've just had someone sign up and go pending on lovefilm for me. Must be from my website too

Think I'll drop her a little email since when I signed up I almost didn't do the offer right, if it wasn't for me finding this message board I wouldn't have made sure to receive a DVD.

I emailed all of my pendings yesterday, and one replied to say thanks for the info. Will need to see how many get declined or go green to see if the email makes a difference.

i currently have 3 lovefilm pendings, im pretty sure they all done the offer right because they are all mates and i told them what to do, so it looks like i'll have my 9 for the next verification ...anyone know when this is?

Since I started emailing the pendings, they've all gone green and been verified. The last declined one happened before I had started to email them. So this definitely makes a difference.
