Struggling..

OK so i'm starting to lose motivation on this now. I'm signed up to ipods giveaway and only need 8 referrals to get my ipod. I've been working really hard at this for ages - set up a blog and am promoting it all over the place through forums i'm a member of, message boards etc. So far i don't have any referrals, not even any yellows! I expected this to be time-consuming and hard work, but i didn't expect it to be this hard and i just can't believe i haven't even got one referral yet

Anyone got any ideas, tips or just encouragement??

try asking friends and family , if that doesnt work offer to pay for there offer so they dont lose out , get a small gift 1st so you can show people something you actually have then they will be more willing to help you out

Re: Struggling..

Don't give up so soon!

it took me about 2 months to get my first gift and that was only for 6 Referrals.

now a year on i'm only beginning to see some serious results and it's beginning to pay off big time.

Hopefully by novermber I will have received over £1000 worth of gifts.

Think of Niches, things of interest that will have a big fanbase.

Read through the how to get greens section thoroughly and i suggest signing up to exceem extra if you haven't already done so to get some more tips.

Re: Struggling..

Thanks for the encouragement guys. My friends and family aren't having any of it - i think they might change their minds if i manage to get my first 'gift'. Until then, i'm trying to get people i don't know to sign up via forums and my blog. I'm not adverse to trades, but i don't really want to pay for all 8 referrals! I'll keep plugging away and hopefully i'll get my first green before too long...

Re: Struggling..

I dont understand how you arent getting yellows. My site has being up since sunday and generated 24 yellows from just over 2500 unique hits

May i suggest you explore ways to improve your site, focus on website usability. The easier it is the better for the user, the better the site is the more likely they are to convert into a referral

Don't give up Bex80, if your after encouragement then just check out the guys here who have over £7k worth of items!

It just takes time and patients to learn the ins and out of getting traffic (E.g. visitors) to your site/referral URL.

A blog is a good start, but what are you doing to generate traffic to this blog? Is it set up correctly to convert other visitors to sign up?

Convincing others is probably the hardest part but if you can create a site that converts 1 user out of 10 to sign up then you know you are on to a winner. If you want tips or ideas then check out other peoples site and see how they do theres, I myself have chosen a different route then others and will be documenting my steps in getting the good stuff.

Here is a small list of where to get traffic, research each one and give them a try.

Search Engines (E.g. SEO, Get google rankings for keywords)
Forums
Digg, Stumble (E.g. Bookmarking sites)
Article Marketing
MySpace
Facebook

That is just a small list of places, get your blog noticed but don't break rules of sites to get noticed.

Send me a PM if you need any help and i'll try my best to lend a hand.

Re: Struggling..

A work collegue and I both saw the attraction in the referral game and signed up. We have since realised that you have to work a bit harder than just getting a bunch of you to all help each other. However, even paying the cost of the joining / referral via friends and family is surely cheaper than purchasing the item?

It's alot cheaper... even if you pay £10 for each referral you could get the likes of an 80GB PS3 for £130

You just need to stick at it and be patient!

Re: Struggling..

I'm kind of in the same boat too. I'm still trying to get my first freebie, it feels like I've been working at it for an embarrassingly long time compare to others, and have only just gotten my first 2 greens and 1 pending - I have no idea where they came from either lol. My friends are convinced its a scam which means I'm relying on total strangers to help me out too. But keep at it, when you finally get that shiny new iPod in your hands, you'll be glad you did.

Re: Struggling..

Wow - loads of replies! Thanks.

I just can't work out why i'm not getting any yellows or greens - my blog's getting loads of hits. It just seems no one's biting! If i could just get one or two 'free' referrals i'd be more inclined to pay for the rest....

I'll keep trying

I'm in the same position too... well, worse really.
Made a website, made a couple of blogs... not a sausage!

You just have to spend some quality time doing as much as you can. Use as many different outlets for advertising etc as you can. Even if it's for only a few minutes a day, you can develop what you already have.

Re: Struggling..

Hello
I am new too and haven't had any referals yet.
I am still skeptical despite people here clearly getting plenty of stuff for free.
Is anyone aware of any sites which just don't register the greens when you get a referal?
For example I am with real-incentives and did not even get my account going live (after having completed an offer) until I contacted them to find out what was going on ...
So how can I be sure that the referals I am getting are really becoming active when the referal completes one of their deals???
Don't really want to start asking friends or fmaily to sign up until I am sure that I would not be wasting their time ...
Anyone had any similar experiences?

Re: Struggling..

Hello Claire80 ... with 2,944 posts I guess you have been at this for a while ...
any words of wisdom for us "newbies"?
Having read some of the posts on these forums it seems that in the vast majority of cases it would be easier to get another part time job and buy the "free" gift than to spend so much time and effort trying to get it for "free"

Re: Struggling..

ok heres my words of wisdon lol,
You just have to be patient i am afraid , it can take a while to get your first freebie but once you find a method that works you get well rewarded , read the how to get greens section for ideas , think about how you heard about referral sites , what got you interested , if you got you interested then surely it would get someone else interested?
go for something small at first like an ipod shuffle thats 2 or 3 refs once you have that and can show friends and family it works then they will sign up and help you on your next site where you can actually go for something you really want xbox/ps3 etc
you get a great buzz when you get your first freebie and it carries on even when you are on your 3rd 4th 5th even 10th freebie , good things come to those who wait .... so it says on the guiness advert anyway!
As for your concerns about not registering greens i have never had any issues , especially with real - incentives , i got a gift off them tuesday infact.

Re: Struggling..

You have to decide for yourself whether it is worth the effort or not. The more you put in, the more you get out at the end of the day.

I received my first freebie on 2nd December last year (an Xbox 360 Premium) but will be just as made up when my iPhone arrives tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Occasionaly the odd offer fails to "track". Just make sure that you keep all the sign-up details and confirmation mails. If necessary, the network can then pursue a manual credit for you (or any of your referrals if they do the same).
