Just index. If they are actually browsing your site and just want to go back to a previous page that would be incredibly annoying.

Erm, have you taken it off?

Doenst work for me, on IE7.

Im guessing your disabling the back button so when you click it you are still on the site? Been around for years and it is free... (were you being sarcastic??)

Quote:
<script>
function backButtonOverride()
{
// Work around a Safari bug
// that sometimes produces a blank page
setTimeout("backButtonOverrideBody()", 1);

}

function backButtonOverrideBody()
{
// Works if we backed up to get here
try {
history.forward();
} catch (e) {
// OK to ignore
}
// Every quarter-second, try again. The only
// guaranteed method for Opera, Firefox,
// and Safari, which don't always call
// onLoad but *do* resume any timers when
// returning to a page
setTimeout("backButtonOverrideBody()", 500);
}
</script>
</head>
<body onLoad="backButtonOverride()">

Well it's not just an override. It brings up a box when the user moves the cursor towards an icon that would take them from the page ie. back, close etc. This box then contains some more info which the user would be instinctively inclined to read.

Yeh I see how it works now: an invisible DIV along the top, when mouse goes over, it opens the hidden window, clever. I think I never saw it since I use the back buttons on my mouse

Maybe the World is going to end

On a more serious note, how do you think the networks would react to the script and the wording?

People are sceptical at the best of times, I did wonder if being forced into a corner would make people even more suspicious?
