Thought of a new method today whilst at work

You know all those "comedy" e-mails all us office dwellers receive everyday? Well it got me thinking; if when i forward them on i strategically place my site link somewhere then eventually that link will be seen by a large chunk of people. Worth a shot i guess?

Well it depends if you class forwarding chain letters as spamming, im sure jimmaz suggested just slipping in your referral link into the origional chain letter, not just stealing the emails and firing off an email to them.

Arguments both ways for this.

Technically, you get the ones, send this to 10 of your friends in 1 hour or you are going to die (that is the gist of most of them). So you send it to 10 people you know with your link slipped in somewhere. As you know them, is that classed as spam? (Probably as it is added to the original mail)

But then when it gets sent around by everyone in your friends address book, it is not you that is spamming it lol!

Be interested to get network owners opinions on this idea. Tis an interesting one i'll give you that.

Well i wouldnt be giving out my referral link as such, just my website address. Also, its not really you spamming if your mates happen to send out an email containing your website/referal address.

that sounds like a great idea, so for example, if this chain email was a picture how would i add my link into the picture so when people clicked theyd go to my website!? or cant u do that?
are people planning to slap there website in the middle and just hope ppl click?
however it works its worth a try.

Glad you all liked the idea. Just to clarify; I wasn't advocating spamming to people who you don't know, merely suggesting the possible exponential growth possible by using your mates to spread the good word.

So far i have definitely noticed a little more traffic to my web site, but as of yet no yellows or green, but i guess it is still early doors.

indeed, give it some time. But be careful... some sites have time-limits so, check their terms and conditions. Great method, has anyone struck gold with this method yet ?

Just sent off a large chain letter to all my contacts with some random Christmas jokes in them, with my website link of course. Fingers crossed someone will find them funny and forward it on.

ive been doing this for a good while. got loodsa referrals from this when i first staretd last year, not too successful now though
