360 Giveaway - Help / Advice

Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice/words of comfort after logging into my 360givaway account and finding that it has been put on hold.

I joined several months ago and got a few people to sign up but then forgot about it as I’m sure many do! Then after reading some positive things about it on this website I thought I’d actively get my friends and family so sign up as I desperately wanted an Xbox 360 but couldn’t justify the cost to my girlfriend who hates consoles!

Anyway after a hard slog I managed to get my 10 referrals, all friend and family, all living at different addresses and all willing to help me out as I had got my sales pitch down to an art form!

After 17 working days of waiting for my account to be verified and logging in every day in the hope that it might give me an indication of when I might bet the console my heart sank this lunchtime when I read:

Your account is currently on hold as one of more instances of fraud have been found with your account. Please log a support ticket if you believe this to be an error.

Obviously I’ve created a support ticket (well 2 in fact as I was desperate to get across all the info that will hopefully exonerate me!) and now I guess it’s just a waiting game?

So has anyone else here been unlucky enough to work their @ss off to try and get something from the giveaway network just to get their account put on hold at the verification process? And is there anything else I can do to expedite the situation? I’ve looked all over for contact numbers etc but no luck. I know that I have all the information to prove that all 10 of my referrals are Kocher but I can’t help feeling like I’ve been conned?

My worst fear is telling everyone whom I ‘conned’ into signing up that they were right and I was never going to get the console

Cheers

Stephen

Giveaway network are very reputable and have sent out thousands of gifts. The reasons your account might be on hold is:

1) Having multiple accounts (e.g. signing up more than once, you might not have even realised you did it)

2) Not completing your offer correctly e.g. cancelling an offer before the time, or not fulfilling the requirements.

3) You may have signed up at the same address as someone else in your family - even though you did say that they are all at different addresses - Not too sure about that one.

There are other reasons too, but they are some of the main ones. I'm sure the owner (Tab) - who is on eXceem regularly, will sort it out ASAP. He is usually around on eXceem later on, so if he reads this thread which I'm sure he will, he'll let you know why you are on hold.

Many people go on hold for various reasons - I'm sure if you can prove the problem that you are having with your account is not your fault etc, you will come off hold and receive your item.

Don't lose hope,
Stigma

Stigma

Really appreciate the quick reply, with what you have said and what I have read in these forums I do feel a little better as I know I have done everything right and Tab seems to be really helpful from all of his posts.

1) I only have one 360-giveaway account; I did sign up to the PS3 Giveaway site but was waiting to receive my Xbox before starting to get the referrals for that one

2) I signed up to the Screenselect offer and stayed a member for a few months after the free trial so it can’t be that.

3) This is the only one where I think there may have been some mistake. I moved out of my parent’s house about 6 years ago and they separated about 2 years ago. I used my current Manchester address for my account and my parents who both live in Blackburn used their two separate home addresses to sign up. Both my father and myself have the initials S J Nevison but different Christian names so I can’t see how that could have been confused?
The other thing is one of my friends I referred lives in the same building as me but in a different flat so maybe that is where the confusion arose?

Anyway your post gives me hope that the support team or Tab will be able to sort this out as I have put so much effort into getting my referrals and I would hate for it all to have been a waste of time. Plus I was going to use the photos of me and my brand new Xbox to get all the referrals I needed for the other Giveaway Network items like a PS3 !!

Thanks again and I guess I just wait and see what the problem is now!

Stephen

Ps sorry for the long posts but I think I’m still in panic mode!

Hey Stephen. Yes number 3) is where your problem lies. Sometimes flats share the same IP address - so could be a problem there. And also if the site sees that you have the same name as someone else they will automatically detect it as a multiple account - Tab will sort it out I'm sure.

Re: 360 Giveaway - Help / Advice

I received the answer to my lengthy support ticket and it basically said that giveaway network couldn’t tell me why my account was put on hold as it might contravene the data protection act! But if I want to appeal I should create a support ticket with information, which might help my case.

The support tickets that I had already sent explained the situation and gave all the details of my 10 referrals and locations as well as asking what I had done wrong.

How am I meant to defend myself if I don’t know what I’ve done???

I am gving away a trade secret here, but the above is just part of a standard reply we send to anyone complaining about thier account on hold so as to weed out the timewasters, of which there are MANY.

I see you have already PM'd me about this so I will check your account and let you know what happened.

Oooh the excitement is electric - will he/won't he!!
As ever I'm sure tab will be down the line honest and pragmatic when he makes his decision

Hi Tab,

Not wanting to seem impatient but I’ve not heard anything back from you and I’m still no really any closer to knowing what’s happening with my account. I know I’m not at the top of your list of priorities but if you could get back to me with your thoughts it would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Stephen

Anyone know if Tab will be around at some point today as I’ve been waiting almost a week for his decision of what is happening with my account and to be honest I’m getting nowhere with the 'polite and patient' approach.

Maybe I should have written an expletive ladened tirade like the last member who felt like they had been wrongly put on hold, as they seemed to get it sorted that day!?!

Sorry for double posting again but I'm trying to avoid constantly PMing Tab

My point was only that being polite and patient has left me 2 weeks down the line and no clearer to knowing what’s happening with my account whereas it seemed that Tab managed to sort your problem out the same day?

I know he’s not been on exceem in almost a week now though so I guess it’s just a waiting game!

Did he manage to resolve your problem in the end?
