![]() | Now I am confused........... had 10 /10 for a PS3 so decided i may as well go for verification to see how many I may need should any of my referrals have done a naughty and I would therefore need to get some more referrals in. Low and behold, none of my referrals have been put on hold, but I have been!!!! I have no duplicate account and every one of my referrals have been genuine, although a couple may have contravened rules. All of them completed lovefilm offers and none of them were at my address (that would just be dumb!). I have only one account listed under me at my address, so I am not sure "how I have been put on hold! I sent in a support ticket to find out why I was put on hold, and I was sent a reply from Lisa saying: "Accounts are placed on hold when a user has contravened our terms and conditions, or an unacceptable level of fraudulent activity has been found. Please refer to our site's homepage for details of our t&c's, you may also find our FAQ's useful. Please see Giveaway.co.uk - Home of the FREE for this information. Please note, we are unable to divulge specific or individual details that may relate to a third party as this would contravene the Data Protection Act. But, if you require further details, after your reading of our terms, then please contact us again and state your referral id for security purposes (this can be found on your 'refer friends' page of your account)." I have not got a clue why I am on hold , and have not asked for any information regarding 3rd parties! And also they have put me on hold, and I have a right under the Data Protestion Act to know why this is the case! I am replying to the ticket.... but this just seems like stalling tactics to me!! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No, giveaway wouldn't do that. I'm sure they have a genuine reason in their view to put you on hold, although it may just be a simple mistake if you really haven't done anything wrong Good luck with it. |

| iBook | The best you can do is keep speaking to them via support tickets, and if you have genuinly done nothing wrong im sure it will be sorted out. However Im not sure that the data protection act would give you cover you in finding out why you are on hold because if they start talking to you about 1 of the other referals, immediately they could be breaking that persons data protection if it turns out to be a genuine referal. I may be wrong though. It certainly is a predicament |

![]() | Cheers Guys.... I am not worried if any of my referrals have done wrong and have been put on hold, and i am not really interested in the reasons behind it, i will just have to plug away and get more referrals.... that as I understand is just how it goes in the freebie game. I am however entitled to know exactly why i have been put on hold and am entitled to know about, and in fact see EVERY single piece of data they hold about me.... I have worked in the corporate financial services industry for 12 years and every year have had to do Data Protection courses and sit tests to comply with FSA regulations, even though I am now quite senior, so I do know what the Data Protection rules state. Hopefully I can find out why i am on hold and get it sorted and collect however many more referrals that i may or may not need to get my PS3 Last edited by Rixtar; 20-02-09 at 11:03 AM.. |

![]() | Got a reply saying that I have got multiple accounts because my mother-in-law set up an account wrongly (it wasn't linked to mine as she didn't use my referral ID and also she used my pc to do it when she was round babysitting!) She came clean about this erroneous account ages ago, but now giveaway say that I was trying to have multiple accounts. The postal address is not the same as mine and she has never completed an offer and has no intention to. A lady of her age ain't really interested in a gamesconsole. I can't seem to win here, I have no intntion of commiting fraud, and Giveaway have been paid for my green and the 10 greens of my referrals, so they are quids in. Seems like more evidence that they are doing there level best not to ship out gifts to anybody. I find it hard to beleive that just because one guy a the top of the network is otherwise engaged that the whole network grinds to a halt..... There is deeper trouble than simply one guy is out of the office. Just imagine if Fred Goodwin had been off work sick or off to deal with family or health issues, the Royal Bank of Scotland would have been in a right pickle if all business had to grind to a halt because he was not there and RBS would have gotten in real trouble....... Oh no wait a minute - Fred the Shreds abscence may have been a good thing.... he was the one that sunk the ship while he was actually there!..... bad analogy but you know what I mean! |

| Mini Mac | the thing is how do giveaway know you didnt make the account yourself and try to fraud them by putting different adresses , whilst im sure you are genuine there are lots of people that try and refer themselves by making accounts at different adresses/fake names etc etc which is why there are rules in place. all you can do is plead your case with anpother support ticket and then move on. as for saying they are doing there level best not to ship out gifts , i do not think this is why they have kept you on hold , they have always had a strict policy on multiple accounts. also for the record im not sticking up for them as i too am waiting on shipment of an order . |

GA have a strict multiple account policy but usually common sense prevails if you can get your tickets in front of Tab. That may well be the problem you will have given his absence.

I am not saying that you have done it in her place, but if this was allowed then how many people do you think would come along and just sign up anyone they could think off in order to get their free gift. Frankly I would imagine that many people would just get out the telephone directory and start signing up pages of people from their computer ordering containers full of ps3's if they were allowed to do that wouldnt they? So look back over what you have said, realise that what has happened is that you have broken the terms and conditions of the offer by your mother signing up from your computer and stop blaming Giveaway for your mistakes. You should send in a support ticket explaining what has happened. I know that in the case of a genuine mistake they will sort things out for you as they have done it with my account, however frankly this phrase here seems to indicate that you knew what the rules were already .......... ![]() | Haggis, you miss my point.... she completed her lovefilm offer from my computer, but on that occaision she missed off my referer id and then she added a nw account from her place with my referrer id and completed the offer from there... Yes I know that her account would then get put on hold as SHE has multiple accounts, but that should not put me on hold, and I should just need to get another referral in her place. Also going through the phone book would be nuts, what wiv loads of randos getting dvds through the post....... how would that ever work.... Also if I wanted multiple PS3s, I would sign up to next jen abd then the FJ sites first, surely that would be an easier way to do it without breaking any rules? |

![]() | Nvm, I think that you have missed the point yourself, if you believe that just because your refferal id was missing when she used your computer you cannot be tracked by Giveaway by other means then I can understand where you are coming from, try looking up what a walkthrough is then maybe my answer will make more sense. I do find it hard to imagine why someone would come along then complete an offer for you when not using your refferal id and then go home and do it.....something isnt adding up there, but nvm frankly I hope it gets sorted for you. Rest assured that if you are genuine that Giveaway will sort it out for you as I have experianced this first hand and have seen it with others during my stay here. Good luck. |

I would cut my losses and either switch networks and start again or try to explian your way out of this sticky situation. This thread is not helping your cause either as you are contradicting your own story.

| MJ lady with maracas | to add, you completed 2 offers from your home address, however you can wrap it up, to GA (and me from what you have said) it looks like you were trying to play the system

![]() | I am obviously confusing folk, I have not contradicted myself. Here are the facts: 1. Only 1 offer has been completed on my PC - Mine 2. I did not walk my mother-in-law through it, I was out to dinner with my wife. 3. My Mother-in-law messed up and did not use my referral id when she set one up whilst baby-sitting - I told her that her referral was not showing and asked her to check it out, she than set up a new accout from her home using my referral id and completed an offer. 4. I am not trying to scam anyone. 5. @ Digger I know that and i never said I would try to do an offer twice, but saiud you could sign up for the NEXT Gen GA Site and then the FJ ones if you wanted multiple PS3s. 6. @Jon it is becoming a bit sus that your undying love for GA seems not to be wavering dispite them really messing everybody around do you work for them, or are they paying your web-hosting bills or summat (don't take it badly, plenty folk I have spoken to are intrigued by your stance with them, and you did just call me a scammer!) |
