New iPhone added...

Good news guys, we have added the new iPhones to http://iPhone.Giveaway.co.uk and reduced the refs.

They are now:

Black 8GB iPhone 3G - 5 referrals
Black 16GB iPhone 3G - 7 referrals
White 16GB iPhone 3G - 7 referrals

Huge referral drop from the 12 and 14 they used to be.....

We will be adding them to iStuff shortly.

Only the contract prices have been released, not the payg prices. You have to activate the contract before you buy it so how can your referral rates be so low?

I have it on good authority that I can continue to buy the contract phones in bulk as I have been doing. The lowered referrals reflect that.

If that turns out to not be the case once the phone is released, I will re-evaluate the referral rates.

I have dropped ref rates in the past, for things like the PS3, 360 and various iPods, and I don't think anyone has ever asked that question before....

I never said without taking out a contract, you have to take out a contract now, although you can get around it. I am pretty confident I can get hold of the contract phones like I have been doing, but should that not turn out to be the case, I will revise the refs..

If someone has already verified and expecting delivery, then they will get a phone and should be happy with that. The problem will arise if you can't get the stock, they will not be happy with Amazon vouchers worth £100 instead of £269.

For anyone else whose account is ongoing, maybe offer iTunes vouchers for the additional referrals. If someone had 4 greens and 10 pendings and had been going for the old 14 referral phone, it would be a bit unfair to lose/waste 7 of those referrals? Would they deserve some iTunes vouchers to make up for it? Or maybe not if they get the phone anyway?

So, there you have it, I've proved that asking the question is easier than finding a solution!

I can see this all going pete tong, I run an iphone blog and speak with quite a few people, a friend works for 02 in leeds and they have been told, "iphone 3g will not leave the shop unless a new contract has been signed". This also applies to all apple stores who's staff are being trained regarding the contracts and signing people up etc.

The PAYG 3g iphone will be released much later in the year if not early next year from what info he has been given.

I hope this is all wrong but hes been quiet on the ball with snippets of good info in the past.

Reading more into this, I would seriously think twice before jumping into the iphone giveaway for the new referrals, until there is 100% concrete information you can get the iphones (without us signing up to a contract) then I would change your site to reflect the fact a contract is required (nothing says you need a contract on iphone.giveaway) If not then you are offering an iphone under false pretense and the new referal rates are going to lure people in quickly.

Just my thoughts with the information I have.
