New iPhone added...

I spoke to o2 today, as i was currently chasing up my replacement phone they were suppose to send back to me last week, and i enquired about the iPhone and using it with a current o2 sim card.

i said to them that my friend doenst like the iPhone, but wants to switch with me for my k850i, so i asked o2 whether that would be possible.

They said, its not a problem, just to put your current o2 sim card into the iPhone, and it will work no trouble at all. The only thing they advised is to change your contract to an iPhone one. If you have a current contract and you are 9 months into it, you can change to a better suited one.

So, ill be allowed to switch to an iPhone plan at £35 a month with unlimited data usage, and ill still only have 9 months left on my current contract(currently halfway through an 18 month one).

or u could wait until ur contract is over u then get the iphone unlocked or just use a pay as you go sim

I Should get my iPhone from giveaway soon.. Can anyone answer these questions:

How much is the contract each month?
and
Is there no way of stopping this contract? so i dont have to pay each month and i can payg

Giveaway are currently offering the iPhone on PAYg which isn't out until later this year. Therefore no one will receive a PAYG iPhone till then.

£30 or £35 a month, but if the phone is supplied without the contract you can get a cheaper contract and just use that.

Cancelling a contract is possible but there is a cancellation fee, and I've heard that part of the iPhone contract is that if you cancel you have to return the handset.

I was quite sure giveaway were offering the contract phone, just as they did with the last one, but do correct me if I'm wrong.

what i want to know so im not wasting 5 greens is, if Tab cannot get the contract iphones without us first having to signup to 18mths of £35, how do we stand ?
do we then have to get the other 13-16 refs for the pay as you go version or cash in the 5 refs for vouchers? or will tab honour the 5 refs and let us have a payg iphone for 5 refs?

this is my point, longer its left unanswered people are going to swarm at the low refs, only to possibly find they need at least twice more later.

What I want to know is if they are on contract you need to pass the credit check (Which I am not going to do !) so how will it work ? can I sign up for a sim only contract ? that would be great !!

Well look at it this way. When you receive something from a company like the giveaway network, you give your name and shipping address, maybe a contact telephone number and that's it right? You don't give your credit / debit card details anywhere, because you're getting a free gift, right?

So, you'd have to receive your iphone and then to use it you'd need to register and sort out your contract with O2; which you don't do. Instead you get it unlocked, and you haven't paid anything or started out your contract.

yes, but the point being Tab does not know if he can get the new iphones like he could the org iphone. the old 1 you could activate at home, but know you must take out a contract in the store before they let u have the iphone.

if this is the case then we need to know asap cos 1. i dont want a 18mth contract as i already have a contract sim. 2. if the iphone does need a contract before shipping to us, wtf we supposed to do with 5 greens we cant use? lol.
