![]() | Account on Hold ?I introduced a friend to the freebie scene something that I dont normally do because I find it hard to convince friends and family. He registered on Wii Giveaway (not through me as I dont use that site). He also registered on ipod nano. It has taken him about 6 months but he finally completed both sites and clicked verify. Everything was ok on the ipod site, but during verification on the wii site his account has been placed on hold. We contacted support and was advised that he has a duplicate account and he account would remain on hold. We are unaware of any other accounts created on the site and have certainly not used it for anything. Does anyone know what could be going on? |

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ? Fraud !!I got a reply from Giveaway giving me the email address of the duplicate account they also said that the contact details were identical including case and space details. This is very strange because the email address is not ours and we dont know where it has come from. But I googled it, and found a ebay user with the same email address reporting to be from Chelmsford, the same town as me. Was interested to see he is currently selling a van. So I have sent him a message to see if I can view the van and get his name and address details. The picture of the van has the number plate but dont think I can get an address from that. Any one have any ideas? What do you think my chances of getting my account back. |

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ?Well, The mystery person responded to my ebay email about viewing his van forsale. He gave me his address and mobile number to arrange a viewing, Turns out he lives down the same road as me. But this is all very strange. How did he get my address and what are the chances of the person living down my road. Why would he use my address. Will giveaway unhold me. Could really do with speaking to them on msn or something as this takes a little explaining. lol. |

If you told them that without any evidence they would most likely just think you were making an elaborate story up as it does all sound very coincidental - Essentially the 'van' man signed up to Wii giveaway but used all of the same contact info etc as your friend but a different email address which you have subsequently tracked down to a person on your road?? Sounds fishy to me!

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ?Well, a while back I advertised my link in the house window, so i am guessing thats were they got the link from. Why they used my address I have no idea. But I am hoping that Giveaway will see that he must have come from a different ip. |

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ?This bloke signed up on my mates link but used my mates address not his own. So now Giveaway assume there is more than 1 account per household. But we dont even know this bloke and have no idea why he typed in my mates address. But he has not completed any offer anyway so dont really see what difference this makes. We have 8 legit referals for a wii. |

I guess their reasoning is that if anything dodgy has been going on with the account irrespective of if offers have been completed , then how can they be sure that the other greens are 'kosher'

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ?Yeah my mistake, I meant his address. I had just finished writing a support ticket to them and I was writing it as if it was my account as I was doing it on behalf of my mate. (I have access to his account) |

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ?I'd be careful about creating support tickets for someone else's account though as IP's are tracked for this also and you wouldn't want to make things even more confusing and give them a reason to link any of your accounts to his. My advise would just be totally honest and offer to give them whatever details they require to show it isn't you and that you are doing everything by the book. It's probably tempting to tell them what you think they want to hear but I've found them to be very reasonable and understanding so just be completely straight with them and I'm sure you'll be treated fairly |

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ?I will. I dont have any accounts with Giveaway, I used them when I first started on the freebie scene beginning of 2007 but I only use FreebieJeebies now. I annoying thing is I have recieved over £10K worth of stuff now and am really not interested in breaking the rules to get an extra ref. I just want to help my mate out. He really is not having any luck, his first freebie he got was a xbox360 last year, he sold it on ebay and received payment through paypal. But then paypal took the money back after the ebay user claimed their account had been hijacked and said they had not recieved anything. So he was out of pocket. (Anyway that is a different issue lol). |

![]() | Re: Account on Hold ?Well looks like that is 9refs/nintendo wii lost then. Just got this reply. ** This individual is related to your account as he is a referral of yours. It is viewed as too coincidental that an unrelated person has registered from your address, using identical details and type, and has registered, moreover, from your referral link. It is thus viewed that two accounts have been registered from your address, which contravenes our multiple rule. Multiple accounts are prohibited and all multiple accounts will be placed on hold. As such, your account is held from proceeding further, it is void for further usage. ** Why they can not just check the ip details I dont know. I do not know this person and they do not live at my address. I appreciate that these conditions are in the T&C of the site and I have always been well aware of them. But we have not broken them. What this has highlighted is, if you really wanna pi*s someone off, just register a account using there address !!! |
