FAO TAB: Spelling Mistake

I have noticed that a few people that are signing up through me are questioning the authenticity of the sites because of a simple spelling mistake; for some reason it always seems to say "requirments" instead of "requirements"....just thought i'd point that out, and hopefully you could ammend this to get more people using your network, and then people would ask less questions over whether it is genuine.

lol
It's funny how the smallest thing can make people query the legitimacy of a site.
Obvious spelling mistakes on unknown sites have made me think twice as well...

Re: FAO TAB: Spelling Mistake

yeh even i questioned the site when i first signed up even after seeing exceem and all of the participants, it kind of reminded me of when i sell on ebay and you get the fake payment emails from paypal, and amazon ones especially, that look the dogs b*****s but the only way you can tell it is dodgy is from an obvious spelling mistake somewhere or a grammatical error!

Re: FAO TAB: Spelling Mistake

i'm the same, spelling mistakes can make a perfectly legit site come across as un-professional, and that's when the trustworthyness gets queried. Funny how the simplest of things can make a huge difference.

Re: FAO TAB: Spelling Mistake

If I find a spelling error with a site I tend to PM the owner and tell him/her as it's only polite and they are grateful for pointing this out to them. Don't really feel the need to create a thread about it

After all, Tab is only human (until items are shipped, when he becomes a god, lol) and no one is 100% perfect at spelling. If someone is put off signing up because of a simple spelling mistake then that makes me think they are looking for reasons to think its not legit.

I just point people to exceem to read up about sites, then they can decide who is and isnt legit.

Yeah but arcticfox, the majority of people see these sites as scams. My best mate wouldn't do a ref for me dispite me offering to pay if he got ripped off and after i showed him proof.
Anything that helps get people through the door is helpful.

Show people exceem and let them look in some peoples signatures. I've had a few freebies but some people have had many more. If they see (normal) people have got free stuff they will be more convinced.

After all, you can see a website offering free stuff and not be convinced but when you see proof from other people.....well, thats why I got into the freebie game

Best bit about exceem is the fact that the freebie site owners are on here (some more than others) and are not just hidden behind their own website.

Re: FAO TAB: Spelling Mistake

I don't see the problem with making a thread, no one is pointing the finger at anyone in particular, and it's made a good discussion I think.

Tab has had a result because he can get the error rectified, and a few of us have had a nice little chin wag about how something so silly and petty can actually make a difference to the perception of a site.

All in all a jolly good show.

... I might also add that unless you actually know someone who has got a Freebie off the Internet, it's much easier to believe that it's all a scam (despite all evidence to the contrary) - after all, who hasn't heard or experienced an Internet rip-off/fraud/scam themselves.

For me, eXceem is the so-called 'Icing on the Cake' (when trying to get referrals to sign up), inasfar as you are not alone & others are there to help you get to where you are going. But it (eXceem) didn't convince me when I signed up , at least in the beginning because I wasn't prepared to wade through all the posts just to find out that it was legit (or not).
It's only when I had time (& the confidence - found it (eXceem) quite daunting to begin with) to actually read through as much as possible on as many threads as I could, did I actually become a 'Convert'... (I NOW BELIEVE!!!)

It's the 'small' things people notice & hence it's the 'small' things that make up peoples minds about something.
Remember - it's not that people don't know about getting Freebies - it's that they've already decided that it's all just a scam.

It's always easier to convince someone who hasn't already made up their mind...

(Sorry to sound like a Pompous Windbag)

Spell checkers exist for a reason.

Most people will be naturally skeptic of these sort of sites, so seeing spelling mistakes isn't exactly going to fill them with confidence.

1) Mozilla actually corrected it to skeptic, presumably it's the American spelling.

2) It doesn't affect me if people see me misspelling words.

Assuming that is aimed at me....what?!?!

Commenting on the fact that a site trying to give off an image of professionalism should use correct spelling hardly means I have anything against a website.

Umm, I think it's more the fact that in every thread about Giveaway you do your utmost to criticise them.

When you say 'every' thread, do you actually mean '3 or 4'?
