Faulty 360?

Hey all, i've had my xbox 360 from giveaway for a few days now, however every now and then i'm getting "Xbox was unable to read this disk" errors. The disks are BRAND new - not a scratch on them - so i'm starting to wonder if my xbox 360 is faulty.

Is there any way Tab can get them replaced by whereever he got them? Or is my only route going through MS? If so, how can I prove i've only just got it - i don't have a receipt!

I get the same with mine too. But I know what the cause of it is so I cant do nothing about it lol.

I didnt know you needed proof of purchase - shouldnt owning the console be enough? lol

I just found the warranty booklet thing and they want £60 for 2 years product cover. Rip-Off.

You know what the problem is? What is it? Did you just get yours too? If so, maybe it was a faulty batch or something?

Oh, and i would have thought you needed proof of purchase else you could claim you got it 3 weeks ago when in fact you got it on launch!

Re: Faulty 360?

Every now and then i've noticed the odd texture not loading quickly - and then it suddenly appears on the wall. This could still just be the disk - i should try some more games!

I've only noticed textures not loading in NFS: Carbon, just as I get to what appears to the end of the road leading to a vortex the rest of the road appears lol.

Re: Faulty 360?

You do not need a receipt to get your 360 fixed under the MS 1 year warranty, the serial number should do. Just need to give them a call.

Re: Faulty 360?

Well it's not done it again since- and the two times it did happen was within Gears of war - within a few hours. I'm thinking the game disk itself might either be dodgy, or there was some dust on the laser or something.

I'll keep an eye on the situation and contact microsoft if need be!

Re: Faulty 360?

I believe there are a few people having problems with Gears of War on the 360 (whether it be on original or a backup!). I don't know why. Why don't you try taking the game back and try getting a new copy?

It's also nice to hear others have had similar problems - maybe its not the dvd drive after all

i'll keep you all updated!
