posters in shop windows?

my parents own a shop in a local town, and they are friends with owners of other shops in the same town who are willing to let me put up posters regarding the free xbox360's. i was wondering if anyone had tried this before and is it any good?
i have given them as much info as i could, on a A4 piece of paper, bold enough to catch their eye, and also not over-loading them with info as they get bored and move away. all i have done is try to convince them its not a scam and that its all legit and legal. and instead of giving them my referral link, which is pointless because its long, i have given them my smaller address of my blog website (www.tobjr.blogspot.com, sorry about the referral link in my website i was wondering if the website looked ok?).

i would sign up to .co.nr and use a domain short from there, they would remember that and you can redirect it to the referal link

To be totally honest, wouldnt it be easier just to ask people to email you at a hotmail address and then you could send them the links and all the details they would need? Lot easier to remember, me thinks.

Re: posters in shop windows?

Why would an email address be any more easier to remember than some shortened redirection url?

Might be worth investing a couple of quid on a .co.uk domain for this sort of thing.

Re: posters in shop windows?

IMO a short Hotmail address would be better than a shortened URL for a couple of reasons.
First of all I think it's easier to remember a short name@hotmail.com because the time the person gets home or onto a computer they probably would forget a longer name or URL. Some thing easy to remember would be advidable.

Secondly, at least if someone has to email you for details it gives you the chance to have the personal touch. A lot of people can lose interest once they get to a sign-up page if they have no idea how the sites and referals work but if you explain how it works clearly, once they go to the link(s) that you send them, they will have a clearer idea.

I also like to know how the person has come to my webpage so this is a way of finding out if it's through a poster, business card, leaflet, forum signature or other way.

Like I say, just my opinion....whatever gets me greens is good for me, lol
My brain hurts
