How about that. Someone finally has come out with a PS3 hack to allow err homebrew (meaning you can play your own games and software etc) with one side effect.. you can also play backed/copied up games. They wanted to charge $100 for it. But once they released it someone else got hold of the code and made it freely available over the net !! Woohoo. Do a google search for PSGroove. Now how many people are gonna want a free ps3 ? A lot I reckon. We shall see.

looks like sony have found away to ban people on the psn.

And that new consoles are going to have encrypted hdd

They are going to ban anyone who uses this hack. I don't want th PS3 to become like the PSP is in thr hacking scene.

hdd is already encrypted, but can be decrypted... and they havent found a way to ban, there as always been a way... they just havent needed to use it (people have been banned from PSN before, but not console banned... that im aware of)

PSGroove is all well and good but the devices it works on are all out of stock... I tried using my iphone and ipod as a port but that didnt work, but apparently the N900 works and people are looking at other devices

Be careful.... with Xbox Live! your console gets banned... not just the user. Won't be long before the PSN do the same.

Think i'm going to wait for a while then decide on whether to buy it after calculating the benefits/diadvantages on getting it. Been payin £40 per game for too long!

Modded consoles are alright, I don't see what's wrong with owning one.

I've got a Chipped Xbox Original, (Not much to do on it, now they've got rid of Live.)
It's good that I no longer have to buy the games and it has a better Media center now....

99.9% sure it will never be on a normal usb stick... it needs to be on something with a 'brain' and a usb stick doesnt cut it

I wouldnt bother spending any money on it, sony will have it patched soon enough and you wont be able to play online... Unless you keep the PS3 off the internet and just use it for offline games then its probably a good investment as they cant do anything about it unless you update your ps3.

Yes, they were always going to patch it... but the point is if you want to use the hack you won't be able to update your console and can't go online (you will probably get banned anyway). Like a modded 360 you will only be able to play offline once you get an update or banned.

I have a 360 that I use for playing online so might be worth buying a old PS3 on ebay for this, to play all the offline games!
