Question

See the thing is....

Apple's new iPhone 4 is the gift that I am trying to get. Obviously there has been a lot of controversy about the phone because of its reception problems. Now Apple recently declared that there will be a recall on the iPhone’s to fix this issue. What I want to know is the phones which we get from FJ, (or any other referral site), will they have the same problems as the other iPhone's or are the companies going to send the phones back to Apple to get them fixed, so we don’t have to.

Because to be honest, I don’t want to get an iPhone which is defective and as soon as I get it, I have to send it back to Apple.

Your thoughts and answers please. Thank You

There is no recall. They are looking into fixing the problem via a firmware update (although I can't see how that would be possible).

FJ (and probably all other networks/referral sites) order directly from Apple so it is likely that the iphone you receive will have the same problems with the antenna, apple are offering iphone 4 customers a free bumper which masks the problem.

Apple isn't recalling the phones the are giving everyone a free bumper case to solve the problem, however if you are not happy with it they will give you a full refund. TBH I have the phone and have not yet had the problem.

Oh right, my bad. It was just late last night and my dad was rubbing it in my face that Apple products are crap and they need to be recalled. He's not very tech savvy so I didnt read up about it. He owns a HTC Hero which he is constantly having problems with, but the one time an Apple products messes up, he slaughters them. His phone recently got an update after 2 years I dont know why he is so happy. He considers his phone to be the "iPhone killer" lol.

Anyway thanks for the reply guys. Much appreciated =)

By the way, just visited the Apple site now, and I havent seen any news or instructions on how to obtain one of these bumpers. It was just a quick gander mind you, but if so many people are having this problem, you'd expect them to put it somewhere easy to reach.

Yeah it's likely the iPhone's we get in the future might have these problems, but apple did say it only affected 1% of their iPhone 4's sold, however true that is. So hopefully there will be no problems.
