Question

Website Questions

Hi,

Am making a website with dreamweaver and just needed to ask some quick questions.

1. Once I have all the .html and image files, what do I do to get it online? (I know it's a big question)

2. Does anybody have any links for the BBC and CNN to prove it works? Just need to put some in

3. Do I need any other programs to get the website online?

Thanks

(Should be posted here really: Website Discussion )

1.
You will need to buy a domain name (or get a free.tk/.co.cc domain) and then get some hosting (You can get free hosting at 000webhost.com). Connect your domain to your hosting account by changing the domain name servers (DNS) to match the ones provided by your hosting provider. Then upload all the .html & img files to the public_html folder in your hosting account.

2.
BBC Video - YouTube - BBC Newsnight Report - Free Stuff
CNN Video - YouTube - CNN Report - Free Stuff

3.
You can use the file upload system on dreamweaver, but you may want to get a different file uploader, such as filezilla for uploading the site to the host.

Gd luck with the site

ok, have you got hosting?

They should give you some nameservers to point your domain too, they will look like example@example1 and example@example2

You log into your domain account (you do this at the website you bought your domain from) and then you type the two nameservers your host has given you, it should take 1-2 days, sometimes longer as i have found out with my website at the moment

Hope that helps

moneysaver is an unknown quantity at this point
My site is totally free at the moment, if you want free domain names, go to OVH - Individuals. Hosting and Internet Solutions - OVH , which I use, free for 1-2 year and I use 000webhost for my hosting, I have my domain on, nameservers something like this :

ns01.000webhost.com
ns02.000webhost.com

Design your site using dreamweaver, NVU, Komposer, Front Page, Word or notepad and then host it on public.html directory you template, index.html and you page, page.html. Hope it helps
