Mini- Members Competition

I've taken it into my own hands to set up a mini competition to find the best members website as voted for by you.

To enter you must do the following.


Visit the members website page in the wiki

Members Websites


Edit the Post and insert your name and website address.

The closing Date for entries is Sunday the 14th of December.

Once the closing date has passed then all votes will be submitted to an independent adjudicator (someone who hasn't entered). I'm hoping a mod or Jon may be willing to take us up on this but we shall see.

The Rules are as Follows:

Sites must have a link back to eXceem somewhere on their site.

If it is a draw then there will be a tie-break poll to decide the winner.

Prizes:

There are none as yet, but the winner will get a nice little graphic for their sig to say the best members website 2008. As made by me or anyone who can make a better one, which shouldn't be hard.

If a website uses a free template, does that count as their own work? Or should the website have been created 100% from scratch?

That's a hard one to decide, because not everyone has the skills to make a layout themselves and I want to try and include every member of exceem in this competition.

What do you all think about the template thing?

If the content is good and unique then the template isn't too important imo.

People should be able to use all the resources available to them.

Yeah I was thinking it was how you used the template to your advantage, because it is hard to turn an amazing design into a well written and set out layout.

I used a template on my site but it's totally different to how it was now i've put my own mark on it. The thing with templates is they inspire you. You pick one that you think you can work with and make you own.

I think that if we were to disallow templates then the competition would probably have about 5-6 entries.

Wouldn't be much of a competition.

Entries are beginning to pile up. Keep on adding yourself people.
Currently sitting at 10 entries.

There'd be no point, how many would there be who haven't used a template? Not that many really.

Also, what's the big deal about using a template? lol

I remember not long ago making my first site and not using a template and just wishing I could design one like many of the members.

Months later i found out about templates and realised most of the sites that I had been admiring were just templates...boo lol
