Over-moderating

I was told yesterday, that offering web hosting for greens wasn't allowed, which is fair enough, i accepted the slap on the wrists, and was prepared not to do it again.

Now, when I come on my pc today, i find out "You have received an infraction at eXceem", even though I'd accepted that I shouldn't have done it in the first place!

I mean, it says no-where in the rules about this sort of thing, and I was already told off for it, then someone comes along, and kicks me again for it!

Seriously, this sort of over-moderating is what drives people away from places like this. You get one warning, then you're out, some people (like me), who are relatively new, and come with new ideas get told very quickly no, and kicked out!

Anyway, I won't be coming back again if the moderators treat people in this way, because frankly, I've got better things to do in my life.

Ah well, your choice, and good luck with the better things.

I believe though that a moderator will give you a warning but only an admin can issue an infraction, which would explain the "double punishment". You wont have been punished twice by the same person.

Re: Over-moderating

It clearly states in the trade rules and guidelines that you can either trade greens for cash, or greens for greens.

the only part of exceem that could be clased as overmoderated is the trades area, if it wasnt then it would be full of people ripping people off.

Re: Over-moderating

But surely that is open to interpretation of something of a Cash value, which I certainly thought it meant!

If you're only allowed to give cash, clearly 100% state, ONLY cash, and not anything of an equal cash value.

Re: Over-moderating

cash for greens.....

.....although I do agree with you on some of your points, maybe we should be able to offer a barter like system for greens we are not all made of money, if we can offer services instead... link display, web hosting, site or banner design, etc etc (yes I know we have a Graphics team!!!).

infractions are a bit annoying especially when they are displayed in your profile!!! grrrrrrr (only just spotted that...)

and whats with the new infraction points system??

Re: Over-moderating

An infraction doesn't mean you get kicked off the forum, unless you got it for something really bad.

In general, an infraction is just a formal warning, but I don't know the details of the infraction so I'm not sure if you got a ban with it or not.

I don't think there is over moderating on the site, but saying that, there does some to be a lot of wannabe moderators here

I've calmed down a bit now, so apologies for my original outburst.

But double moderating is bad, really gets people's back up

Re: Over-moderating

what doesnt help Casabian is when you make a mistake and about half a dozen modwanabees give you the third degree too so by the time you have recieved a formal warning you feel totally belittled.

Modwanabees need to get infractions/bans in my opinion!!!

Re: Over-moderating

i got an infraction for only mentioning that i got a gift from an unsupported site..

i didn't link it or even post the name, i thought a verbal warning if anything would of been fine, i would of been a bit of confused about that too though...

why? for possibly helping? okayyyy

There's a big difference between "helping" someone and giving them abuse (like your earlier post in another thread today).

Re: Over-moderating

People need to learn to read the rules though. These boards are busy and getting busier and in those situations when people don't read the rules or read other posts/threads it just ends up annoying other members who have to read the same post over and over again.

And it would be nice to be able to offer services in exchange for greens however I think that would be impossible to manage. After all if your creating a graphic for someone or I'd like to be able to exchange my web development skills for greens who then decides when enough work has been done. Someone could easily decide they don't like what you have done and don't go green for you.

If you're doing graphics work, you could always place a watermark on the image
