I've seen alot about this on youtube... it looks great! All those extra apps. Plus the fact you can remove everything using a factory reset! So no harm done.

Yeah, you can unlock the iPhone and put apps on it however you need to be wary about software updates because apple can 'brick' the phones.

Re: Jailbreaking your iPod Touch/Installing 3rd party apps...

use meebo.com in safari for a instant messenger

if you near a wifi connection, you can pretty much listen to any music for free at seeqpod.com

and for free sms, goto Free SMS

i havent been able to get this to work, the msg's dont get received

games goto podcade.com

btw, this is all threw safari browser,

the apps that you can get by jailbreaking are actually installed.

word of advice, if you going to jailbreak use that touchfree program.

then once its on your pod, go to installer, dont install anything..

you want to update the program first, it woulds through the wifi.

you must update the installer to version 3. im not sure exactly which thing it is as ive forgotten. but just update everything before you go ahead with installation on the device itself, otherwise it messes up.

yeah but the iphone and the ipod touch basically use the same OS structure, so pretty much all the iphone apps should work on the touch

it doesn't

what i meant was that most if not all iphone apps should theoretically work on the ipod touch, the input however, may be limited due to the lack of a mic.

so skype should work on the touch but you wont be able to use it.. unless a future update includes it along with the release of a headset, which i doubt

hope that makes sense

Due to French law, Apple have to release the iphone unlocked in France, so we will be able to hop on the eurostar and get one. However expect to pay a premium for the phone being unlocked, I have heard its going to be priced as high as €1000.

I first saw it on this article: Macworld: News: Apple, Orange to sell unlocked iPhone in France

As far as I can see, they will offer it locked to Orange and unlocked too. The question will be whether Apple will make the unlocked phones French language only.

And you can bet that Apple will raise the price a fair bit for the unlocked phone because they want the customers to choose the Orange iphones because they get a percentage of the user's monthly bill from Orange.
