according to the law, no one can lock a phone to one specific network (correct me if im wrong ) so apple, instead of partering with another network chose to sell the iphone unlocked. and the MacUser mag i have right of me says that prices will start from €399

i did mine lastnight, never asked for my ip in dos.
the dos section was only when i had downgraded and used jailbreak re-upgraded then used the app the jailbreak 1.1.2 this took about 5 mins in dos while it reads and re-writes the flash.
Jailbreak 1.1.2 - Touchdev

follow that step by step and u will be sorted

Do any of you know any useful/fun applications to install ?

There's no point in jailbreaking, unless you've got a few good applications to run on it
