Wii.giveaway.co.uk

For Info: Wii.giveaway.co.uk (or giveawaynetworks [actually Fusion Media LTD]) use rather underhand tactics to prevent people getting the Free Wii,

So far I've had one of my friends refused for no reason - he emailed them and they said they couldn't tell him for confidentiality reasons.

I finally got another two friends to sign up to give me 9 referrals to make sure - one of them in a seperate flat in my building

Consequently my account and his have been accused of being fraudulent - despite the Terms and Conditions explicitly stating that it has to be a different postal address. According to Royal Mail who I called to check this - each of my flats is a different postal address.

I'm furious! I've sent a ticket but had no reply. Anyone else have the same problem? It just seems that they selectively choose who gets a free wii.

Re: Wii.giveaway.co.uk

Weird this, not the first message on exceem accusing giveaway of this. From what ive heard recently they seem to look for any and every reason to ensure a user doesnt get a gift. Hopefully (and probably) I'm wrong, but its a bit worrying seeing as theres been a few other posts saying this recently. Can you think of any reason though? Are the other flat members on the same internet package as you? Or do they have the same IP address or summat?

Ben

Re: Wii.giveaway.co.uk

Maybe it is due to the fact that you made them sign up from your house which is clearly not allowed as you will have the same ip address. Each sign up should be made from a different ip address and a different household. If you geniunely feel that you have not done anything wrong raise a support ticket with them. As long as your acount is not on hold, just cut your losses and get more refs.

Re: Wii.giveaway.co.uk

I had the exact same thing with giveaway and their hdtv, got 41 referalls of 40 needed and suddenly 2 go on hold, unfortunately for them I know both these people and they had not even bothered with the sceme since signing up and completing the offer and were ok as of the last referal 1 week ago, they had done nothing in the past month to get banned but all of a sudeen had in 1 week by not using the accounts. Clearly they thought that because the accounts weren't in use no-one would realise.

Re: Wii.giveaway.co.uk

Well, this is worrying. I am going for a Wii on nextgen and this is my first time trying for a freebie. Kinda makes you worried given your about the 3-4th person to complain about this in the last few days.

I've done everything by the book, if for some reason I don't get a Wii, I'm going to look very silly in front of my family and it is going to be near impossible for me to get them to sign up to anything else in the future.

Re: Wii.giveaway.co.uk

I have had a PS3 from them, and getting the second one this week (i hope).. If you ask more of the older member who have had more than 2 items from them they will tell you that they do send stuff out, it's the biggest Freebie Network around.

@djfonti ....you don't need to worry, carry on doing the site, if it was a smaller site that maybe wasn't supported or not alot of people have competed, then you could have some worries...

Just don't break any Term's & Conditions you will be fine,

I thought I might be able to shed some light on this for you, being a network owner. We have also been accused of putting people on hold 'conveniently' as soon as someone hits 'verify.' With our site (and I suspect this will be the same for most other sites), we only check that T&C have been complied with when the person is verifying, or when the person that referred them is verifying (i.e. when they are a 'green' for someone who is verifying). This is because these are the only two occasions when we are paying out to them or to someone who has got credit for referring them. If we checked every single person who signed up to our site, then we would definitely have to give up the day jobs... which might be quite nice actually... and for a lot of those people, it would be a waste of our time because they never count towards a gift (the 'yellows').

Therefore, most of the people that get put on hold will be put on hold when the person who refers them hits verify, and this is why it looks like 'convenient' timing.

Hope this helps explain the timing (and sorry it was such a long post!!).
