Rererral number discrepencies

I struggle to understand why networks choose the numbers of referrals that they do!

I'm not having a go at them, i think the service they provide is excellent, but why do different items which cost about the same have completely different referral amounts!

e.g
PS3 = 425 quid , 13 referrals on sonyps3giveaway
32" LCD = around 500-550 quid , 28 referrals on HDTVgiveaway

does anyone know why this is!? it just makes no sense to me

Different offers pay different amounts of commission and also the PS3 site probably generates more traffic.

the difference is probably because the LoveFiLM and EasyDVD aren't on the PS3 site, and they only pay like £17.50 (and that's if you've got 500 leads I think) so you need more people to cover the cost of a HDTV,

the lovefilm offer is on the ps3 nextgen site though...

It's because some sites have a higher minimum referral requirement before you can cash out on any of their money. So if you make a separate site for a ps3, you can lower the ref rates for that one gift as everyone has to get that amount first.
