Deus Ex: Human Revolution advice needed

Anyone played this game?

Im a total noob and am stuck already - I can't find a mission to start!

Any advice to help me navigate the map better would help - im more used to games where they paint you a path of the quickest route on your radar but in this I just keep finding dead-ends when Im trying to locate mission start points.

The only one i can find is the police station (yes thats right im right at the beginning, havng only done the opening mission so far) - I failed with the Officer and can't find a way over the fence into the alley.

I read online that you need Leg augs but I don't have them and have no Praxis kits left. I opted for the Hacking: Lvl2 aug and the Stealth: Noise dection instead.

Any help guys please?? I really wanna play more but have hit a total dead wall. And when I 'activate' a mission the coloured marker on my HUD for that mission (and only that mission) actually disappears! lol
