Well I'm quite the nerd and have been playing since I got in from school and can safely say that past the first 5 hours (yes, I've played it 5 hours already on a school night :X) it seems to get a lot better with this paradigm and crystarium malarkey.

Won't give much away for those who don't want to know cos they have yet to play it...

No game will ever be better than FF7 lol, but i'm suprisingly liking it more than FF10!

If i end up not liking it, i'm gonna buy FF7 AND FF8 from the PS store and play through them

I'm mega impressed- not with the game as i haven't even taken the wrapper off yet. I ordered it from ShopTo at about 5pm last night and it's here already. I've heard lots about people who have preordered but who are still to recieve it. I really want to play it THIS second but I'm meant to be meeting my brother for lunch...

I've got FF 8 and 9 somewhere in the house but can't seem to find them... Are FF 7 and 10 really that good because if they are then I may have to get involved. I've only played FF9 and 12 from start to finish and got about halfway through 8 when i had a ps2 but i don't think it worked in my ps3...

Post came, played for half an hour, it's really crap at the moment and pretty hard to understand wtf is going on with the plot aswell as a really repetitive battle system...

At the moment I'm a bit disappointed. Having said that I know that most RPGs are pretty slow to start with. I hope it picks up. I'm gonna develop RSI even faster by repeatedly pushing the X button at this rate...
Visually it's pretty stunning but it seems to be lacking all the stuff I generally liked about RPGs

It does pick up about 5/6 hours into the game and gets better after that. Have to agree with you about smashing the X button repeatedly (A button for me), i'm going to need a new controller soon!

Or the X button and looking out for triangle. Sephiroth was the only fight taht required any skill, that and the last fight with Demyx.

ah ok fair point- but it wasn't so linear and there were side quests to do as well.

I'll give you all that FFXIII is very linear, but I am loving it to death at 30 hours in! It got less linear about 24 hours in? Still, the story is amazing, the graphics are immense and I'm loving the battle system. When you get as far into it as I am, you have to think so much more about the paradigms you want to be using, along with which characters and every detail is important because it becomes so very easy to die at any point.

I'm finally about 6 hours in now and it's definitely MUCH better. It was getting monotonous but it's improved. There's actuallly thought involved now that paradigms etc are involved. Feel like I want to play it more whereas before I felt compelled to play it only because I'd spent money on it.
