My Friend Ani - The Musician

So, I literally just received a text of my friend Ani saying go look at this myspace, Ani Sandwith on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads it is my musicians page.

I didn't have a clue what she was on about, so I went and took a look. And my god I think she is fantastic. Ani is my close friends little cousin (she is 15) and I never knew she sung, just played keyboard.

Now I may be bias but I think she is very good!

Song 1 - there are parts of the song where its an effort on the listener's part to try and put the vocals in time with the melody - that may not be the song tho she may just want to rerecord it, or she may have a few too many words in particular parts which makes the vocal rythym sound unnatural. i do like the way the song increases tempo towards the end tho.

Song 2 - very nice melody (kind of like unchained melody), interesting lyrics, sung well

she has a nice jazzy voice which sounds very natural. her strength seems to be writing vocal melodies tho. her keyboard on its own is not too great, which is one reason she should form a band - the main reason she should play in a band tho is that it helps you develop as a musician to have a better understanding of what ur song will sound like when its complete. keyboard on its own is hard to pull off tbh. as a guitarist its difficult to sit here listening to it because i know how much those songs are crying out for guitar, lol. she's 15 now and she's got something - she just needs to practice, practice, practice and she'll be really good in a few years!
