![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Looks amazing! Just seen a video on youtube though from 2006 with a trailer, why did they release a trailer 3 years ago for it? |
|

| iBook | because they are lazy and haven't done any work on it for the past two years and have only just decided to finish it off |

Also, 3 years is nothing, Duke Nukem Forever began life in 1997 and was only canceled last month. That's 12 years in development. Too Human began in 1999 and was released last year. 3 years is actually quite normal in game development.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I guess the COD games don't require such complex and new game engines to be built each time, as seems the case with APB. |

| iPod Nano 4GB | COD is different. 1, 2, 4 and 6 were made/are being made by Infinity Ward, 3 and 5 were made by Treyarch. Each game still only takes roughly 2 years, but because it switches developer each time, it appears to be a yearly franchise. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I read that Duke Nukem Forever was the longest game every in production, so it can't really be used as a normal comparison. APB looks like it could be the start of proper online and interactive gaming |

![]() ![]() | Didn't they start Modern warfare years before it came out but had to do COD 3 before? |

| iPod Nano 4GB | As soon as Infinity Ward finished COD2, they would of begun work on Modern Warfare, while Treyarch were finishing COD3. As soon as Treyarch finished COD3, they would of begun working on COD5:WAW. And again, as soon as Infinity Ward finished Modern Warfare, they would of begun working on Modern Warfare 2. |

| iPod Nano 4GB | Oh yeah, all day. COD2 > COD3, MW > WAW. The thing that bothers me most, is that Treyarch don't believe that WW2 is a saturated setting. WW2 is done in my opinion, move on. IW did and look what it did for them, they've sold 14 million copies. To get back on topic, I am psyched for APB. Some of the guys worked on Crackdown and that's one of my favorite 360 games. The customization looks incredible too. |

> 85% of the time a game is scraped before it's even finished being developed, Duke Nukem Forever is probably a game that seemed good at the time, began development and was put on hold for better projects, and never taken off hold, claiming that it's still in development > 10 years COD is a dream come true to both of the development companies, these kind of games have a simple software engine and wouldn't take much to create from there. They could roll these games off the shelves a lot more frequent than their even doing now! But, rolling them out like that would ruin the whole franchise, so they put a lot of the extra time they have available into extra features (which is great As far as im concerned 3D Realms = Joke!, their big chance as a comeback was Prey for the Xbox 360, which sucked b@lls! They probably have no money left to work on DN: Forever because they can't manage their projects and roll them out to the shelves ONTOPIC: Don't like RPG games at all

Concerning DNF. 3DRealms weren't too scared to release the game, or weren't able to manage their projects. They just simply wanted the game to be the best it could. So every time a better engine would release, they'd scrap everything they'd done so far on the game, and start a new. To the point where Take2 said, if the game ever releases, we'll publish it, but we're not funding it anymore. Also, they never claimed they were working on the game, they WERE working on the game. After the game was canceled various artists from 3DR leaked gameplay footage and character models of the game. The reason IW can roll out a COD game every other year isn't because they have a simple engine. It's because they already have the engine and the framework for the game. It's simply a matter of updating old models, tweaking the engine and creating new assets.
