![]() | Re: England 1 - 2 Germanyhehe only having another giggle at england's expense, fonti is right. Whereas I get to watch my wee country live everytime they play at home and I get to watch the European Championships Qualifier top scorer put us in with a chance of qualifying |

Here we go again... You were chuffed to see us lose against Germany, that is the worst comment ever, no matter who's in the team. 'Fat Frank' and 'Terry the chav', what are you proving here? Says nothing about their football, the 'fat' one obviously being one of the fittest in the premiership, setting records for games/minutes played last season. As for 'chav'?! Where's that come from??? McClaren hasn't been the best, but then I would put this mainly down to the players. It was a half decent performance last night, especially for a friendly, with 12 players out. I have full confidence that we will qualify, and go on to be fairly successful at the Euros with McClaren. Whoever you are, you'll get stick as England manager, that's the English press for you.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: England 1 - 2 GermanyI agree with Mica, though i admit i only saw the first half. Considering that we had so many babies.. erm... i mean players crying off, one of their goals was rather fluky, and the other was a bit of a wonder strike we did well. Scored a good goal, Joe Cole proved he is our most consistent performer and Richards showed he's going to be immense (and he's pretty decent now!!). There were a few downers - Robinson was poor, Smith isn't an international striker. But i think if you ignore the score and look at the bigger picture you can't complain too much. My only worry is up front for the next couple of games - hopefully owen will improve with match practice and we'll be miraculously given someone decent to partner him but i'm still worried about our strike force. |

| iPod 30gb | Re: England 1 - 2 GermanyYou know Robinson won't play that bad forever though, its just been a poor end/start of season for him. Wait til he hits some form in a few games' time and everyone will be singing his praises again. We have lots of not bad keepers, but long-term I don't think they can realistically challenge just yet. Smith shouldn't really be in the squad, even with all those injuries. He would only be put in as a striker, and he isn't really one of those anymore. Owen also just needs games really, we haven't seen him have a good run of games so I reckon he could come good.

| blah blah blah | Re: England 1 - 2 GermanyFor what it's worth, here's my opinion. Watched the game with obviously no preference what team won (i.e. a neutral) but what's the point in friendlies? Everyone knows that after half time it's all substitutions every 5 minutes. Soooooo, here's my idea. 2 seperate games of 45 minutes each with no subs unless injuries. That way, more people get a game, less subs, and more interest because as far as I see, all substitutions seem to do in friendlies is kill the game as a spectacle and play players out of position just to give them a game. Team managers would be happy as their players would only play 45 minutes so less injuries and less fatigued. More players get a game so maybe some fringe players who would normally get 10 minutes will get some time to actually shine through. Plus, we all know what the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney etc etc can do so why keep playing them in friendlies? Surely friendlies should be about trying things out, not just playing the same way game after game. The games would be more exciting also if it was 2 separate shorter games because at the moment it seems like nothing happens after half time. Discuss (or a javelin even)

![]() | Re: England 1 - 2 GermanyIt doesn't matter if there were 'positives' to take out of yesterdays game, we've been hearing that for decades. The point is, the greatest midfielder of all time (Stevie 'G'), the second greatest midfielder of all time (Shuper Frank), Rio 'I'm Franz Beckenbauer, honest, Alan Hansen says so' Ferdinand and Joe 'pointless slow-motion stepovers' Cole can't keep hold of a ball for longer than a minute (and that's pushing it) despite being 'the golden generation'. When we are in possession, it's sidewards pass, sidewards pass, **** they're pressing us what do I do, back to Rio, lump it up to the midgets up top. It's depressing....

For me the wanting to beat Germany is heightened by our recent duelling history, but I mainly want to beat them because i'm english and I want to see england win. I've never really understood why scotland, wales, ni and rep i always want England to lose, I always support you guys on, so long as it's not against England, then all teh lcoal rivalry comes in, but otherwise i'd much rather see you boys bash the frogs/krauts/argies whoever! Good on the republic for giving denmark a smack, and didn't wales get a result against bulgaria? | |

1. I'm not sure anyone realised the thread was posted as a joke? Being over the 'net that's excusable 2. Whoever you are, you're an absolute mug if you think Terry and Lampard are any less very high quality footballers, who both play intelligent football. 3. Your dad is a wise man. 4. The war definitely still has something to do with it, yes. Prejudiced is a bit strong though. 5. Congrats!
