What is BBC good for?

There's quite a few of us excited that Top Gear is coming back to our screens, and this got me thinking about the BBC and the license fee.

We all know that the BBC has naff programming most of the time, but what shows do you love watching on the BBC that you don't mind paying the license fee for?

Mine are:

Spooks
Doctor Who
Extras
Top Gear

Maybe the bbc should create a freebie site called www.bbcfreelicense4u.co.uk,

Re: What is BBC good for?

lol you named my favourites! Really like Spooks and Doctor Who, and Extras is a laugh, and Top Gear's great! I guess you pay for the fact there are no adverts. I also thought 'Life on Mars' was good, and new series is coming soon. Erm, what else? Well, when football is on its great. Linekar, Hansen are two great pundits! In fact talking of BBC football, Liverpool are playing Arsenal on BBC tonight! Anyway, I'm sure i missed a few good programmes.
I don't really take any notice of the license fee as i never pay it (due to the fact i'm under 18

Spooks, I also really like news 24, and although I don't listen to them often I like BBC radio stations. But yeah as far as tv is concerned it seems like BBC have moved away from the programming that I like such as star trek.
In the past there have been lots of BBC programs I liked, Bugs, Coupling, My Hero, New Adventures of Superman, lol anyone remember Hetty Wainthropp Investigates?

I heard such great things about Life On Mars. I think I need to rent that out, through LoveFilm!

Of course Football! During the World Cup the commentary on the BBC was just spot on. ITV had Venables and he was okay, but below par to Hanson & Linekar. Venables was also sporting a Golden Retriever look with his new hair colour !

Re: What is BBC good for?

I know! ITV had terrible coverage of the World Cup, while BBC were spot on. On a poll on a football forum, it was something like 313 watched the world cup final on BBC, while about 27 watched it on ITV. Why people watched it on ITV means there must be something wrong with those people!

Anyway, forgot one, and it just came to me then I love 'My Family'!

I heard that the BBC may bring back Vicar of Dibley as wasn't this shown over Christmas or New Year's and had a huge audience following?

The dancing shows are just arse. There is way too much celebrity type shows. I really wished I had access to USA TV from here, instead of trying to download all their great shows like 24!

Re: What is BBC good for?

that would be awesome!

Vicar Of Dibley, was and still is, one of the freshest comedies BBC have ever brought us.

I loved the Christmas/New Years ones, but they sort of finsihed it all off on the last episode, and announced it as the last ever episode, so i doubt they'll bring it back.

Top Gear and all things Jonathan Woss. Some of the one offs are good like the live Pink Floyd concert the other week and films are uninterrupted by advertisments.

I have a love / hate relationship with this show and at the moment it's love. I'm so glad Pauline left but she could have had more of a dramatic exit...and will Sonya be found out...DUM DUM DUM-DE-DUM-DE-DUM

Another show that I think is pretty good is Holby City. In addition I watched the Christmas special of Casualty (I never watched this show) and was certainly hooked to watch the whole thing.

Prefer Casualty to Holby City, but rarely watch that type of program. I thought the old 'My hero' was great. But the new guy they recently brought in is rubbish! Has it ended now then i take?

HUSTLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(same makers as Spooks!)
My favourite programme in the history of EVER! Anyone else seen it? I cant wait 'till the 4th series comes!

Eastenders is okay sometimes (getting a bit bored of seeing Sonia cry all the time though... I mean get over it! LOL)... My Hero is good but I prefer the old George by far... My Family is great too!

Hustle is a great show and that 'leggy' lady is stunning. I thought I saw her on an Argos TV advert the other day.

I love watching the snooker, used to hate it though as it always interupted the BBC2 simpsons slot, 6-6.25.

As for hustle - its pretty good but has anyone watched the real hustle, I am in love with that woman on it!

Also how gas nobody mentioned Newsround, I watch it every day, off to watch it now!

Re: What is BBC good for?

LOL yayyyyyy other Hustle people!!!
Yeah, the real hustle is interesting (but they kinda borderline as theives...)... thats why I love Hustle, it depends on the mark being greedy!
Oh yeah, newsround! Haha makes me laught how patronising the can be
To be fair, they do have quite a few free channels, but I kinda think c4 is better since they made e4 and film4 free!

Re: What is BBC good for?

no newsround today, its saturday! what a disapointment. I love the little boxes at the bottom on newsround explaining stuff in really simple terms, I remember one bird expert chatting about some endangered bird had the box under him 'Knows a lot about birds'.

also for any of the guys who watch newsround you might appreciate this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjQEYcUS3dM

I love her! Also anyone noticed Lezo is pilling on the pounds!
