Can anyone help me with ScreenSelect please?

Hi,

I have recently signed up to the Freepay ipod video website and I chosen to do the ScreenSelect offer. When trying to get my mates into this, I tell them that ScreenSelect is free, and that you get your credit before the free trial ends, and you can cancel then to avoid getting billed.

However, I have had some people come up to me and tell me that you have to go into 1 month of billing or you will not be credited, some people arnt sure, and some people say the opposite.

Could someone PLEASE tell me and confirm for me that you can cancel before the free trial expires and you can still keep your credit if you do so? Thanks again everyone. James.

Don't want to get all 'snooty' on you but.....

You should really only ever complete an offer if you are interested in the service that is offered. The advertisers want 'quality' leads and if everyone keeps signing up to offers intending to cancel them from the very outset then companies like ScreenSelect will eventually stop allowing their link to be used on 'reward' sites.

I realise that in the quest for a free item many people are willing to bend the rules a little bit but you'll probably find that in the terms and conditions of many sites if they find out you've been recommending to people that they sign up to an advertiser and cancel before the first month then your account will be placed on hold. I've no idea how much investigating they do, but it's always a possibility.

Having said that, there are many people here who have honestly tried out the ScreenSelect service in good faith, haven't liked it, and then cancelled - but they still got their green... and there are many people who have tried it and still use them months later (and obviously got their green).

To be honest - if you're questing for a free item worth £200+ is it really too much to pay £10-£15 to give the service a really good try out?

Ok your explanation is really good actually but you havnt answered my question..

Can I still get credit if I cancel the free trial?

If you do the offer through freepay you have to stay on past the end of the free trial to receive credit. So not only is it not a free offer - it alos takes over 4 weeks to get credited.
It tells you that when you click on the offer link.

No it doesnt, it says 'Sign-up for a free trial and add 10 titles to your wishlist to be credited/eligible...."Gain access to over 30,000 DVD titles' Very mis-leading if you ask me, and I still think I can get the credit before the trial expires..

They might have changed it to when you guys did it or something...

You probably will get credit before its time to cancel, however your be best of playing by the book though!!

yup definately cuz its a big risk if u dont play by the book cuz its like throwing away a special offer to get a ipod and u wont be able 2 get another ipod off there site. If i were u i would do a offer ure intrested in and do it by the book.

Why bother asking us if you still think that anyway!!

You probably will receive credit before the free trial is up but you wont have got all your greens and been verified and have your ipod delivered by then so there is a chance that in that time your account will be put on hold if you cancel the offer without staying with screen select for the first paid month. for the sake of £10 I wouldn't bother risking it.

It's up to you really though, sounds to me like you're just going to cancel anyway regardless of what we say!!

Well its not my crdit card I signed up with you see, it is my parents so if they see 'ScreenSelect' on their statement they will ask why...

Still if I can get an iPod before they get their statement and give them proof then it will be ok... That should happen actually. How long does it take to go green anyway if you do ScreenSelect?

Mine took two weeks I think, careful though I cancelled my account and STILL paid 14 quid or whatever. Am currently working to get my money back

Careful, that's fraud. I think you should ask your parents for permission...

If your parents get their credit card statements monthly, I doubt you will have your ipod before they get their next statement, once you get all your greens you are going to have to wait to be verified and wait for delivery! You will have to get cracking!! V. Dodgy using parents credit card!!

Well its not like I've stolen it and used it..

My mum trusts me and knows that I have the details in a little text document on my computer. And I have looked over freepay and all this and found that it is genuine, and the companies you sign up to are established and safe so... why not?

Or are you saying I shouldnt use a credit card anyway?

It's just that you said if your parents see 'sceenselect' they will as why, so if they trust you why not just tell them that your usng it. Suppose thats up to you. The point of these sites though is to complete an offer and actually use it so to cancel before the end of the trial is just a bit of a risk really, but you can make your own mind up on that!

Yer ok, but if I told my parents 'well its for this free iPod thing' instantly they are going to say no, and they dont really know about the internet, as they wouldnt have a clue how to even turn a computer on! When you said it is very dodgy, then why say that? Is some of these sites not secure or something then?

Nah I didn't mean dodgy to use a credit card, hell I use a credit card on the internet all the time. I just don't think it's right to use someone elses credit card, at the end of the day its fraud!! It's just something I never would have done but everyone is different so it's your choice really!!
