Freepay mentioned in Computeractive

Thought I'd let people know that Freepay are mentioned in the latest issue of Computeractive (out on Thursday) in an article on how to save money online.

Here's the section:
Quote:
Forgive us for trotting out a cliche, but like many of its kind, this one is firmly rooted in truth. There truly is no such thing as a free lunch and before you embark on a freebie hunt, it's important to consider what you're agreeing to before accepting a 'gift'. In some cases, you will be asked to give out your personal details, including date of birth, and home and email addresses. These details will be used for marketing purposes, which often means you'll be sent advertising emails or flyers. Some sites may offer a way to opt out, so look out for small tick boxes, but note that the Data Protection Act only obliges companies to make it clear how personal information is going to be used, so providing a valid email address is likely to be the price for getting the freebie.

It is advisable to set up a free email account with a webmail provider such as Yahoo or Hotmail to handle all your subscriptions to freebie newsletters.

There are also a number of websites that may use a 'free gift' as a way to make money from you. For example, Freepay Gifts (http://gifts.freepay.com) asked us to sign up to an * for us to obtain a free hair care product. On further reading, we found that the ringtone offer we chose would charge a £3 start-up fee and £13.50-a-week subscription fee, which is added onto the bill. No matter how enticing an offer appears, always read the small print carefully.
*advertiser? (misprint in magazine, word missing)

Various freebie forums are also mentioned but unfortunately eXceem isn't.

Yeah I saw that too.

ComputerActive is a legend magazine, although I do wish it would have something for the more advanced computer user. :/
