hi,
I have signed up for the freeipod.com scheme and have a question;
exactly how do i use screen select so that it is nice and free?
it says this when i click on the link:

'Sign up for a FREE ScreenSelect trial and you will receive credit in approximately 1 week. You must stay on past the free trial to receive credit for this offer.'

all sounds a bit odd to me, so if someone could explain nice and slowly I would aprecitate it.

thanks

ooo thats bad, theyve changed the rules sinse i did it. Before all you had to do was sign up for a free trial and cancel it whenever you want.... It appears that you now have to pay for a month now which isnt to good. In simple terms this offer will cost one months membership although you do get a free month. Its up to you, go for the cheapest though, but if you want to rent some dvds anyway......its a match made in heaven......go for it!!!

Good luck!

Yes but when i did the offer it only said sign up to the free trial, now they must be relising what me and so many other people have been doing with the offer and added a extra requirement. I would advise doing as it says or pick another offer......

I'm trying to cancel, however they've sent out a DVD, only problem is the address never existed.

I just hope they don't charge my card. I want to change my payment, and it didn't have my details inputted, but I'm scared they'll charge me.

They won't cancel the account until the DVD is sent back, so hopefully it'll end up back with them and not lost, or I am in the ****ter.

Was it a totally made up address? If so, it should go back to them, otherwise there's gonna be some lucky person with free DVDs!

I'm sorry but I hoep you do get charged and have your free gift site account locked.

Its because of people like you offers that others would like to complete are removed.

The more scam's the less the sponsors would be willing to pay.

I don't get why you gave your real card details and then gave a fake address, supose they verify your account and place you on hold for it? Also it's a free trial, you could at least try the dvd rentals, there's nothing to lose.

chances are yoru card will get charged for the value of the dvd...

royal mail do return mail that dont have a correct address, but they take at least a month to do so normally as they have more important things to do (like delivering mail to REAL addresses)

also since you gave fraudlent infomation, screenselect may inform your card issurer that your card was used for fraudlent purposes, which could lead to problems for you in the future when applying for credit cards/mobile phones/loans/mortgages etc

Didnt relise theyd send them out?!?!?

Its a online dvd rental company, what do you think they are going to do with them....charge you and use them as coasters?!?!

What you have done is incredibly foolish (sorry to be harsh, but it really is!!) Basically this will teach you a valuable lesson!!

Now could any of these addresses across the country be a lucky holder of a free dvd???

http://www.multimap.com/map/places.c...8+Diamond+Lane

Firstly they will probably charge you the £9.99 rental fee if the dvd doesnt return to the company within a month, unless you chose the 3 dvd rental charge which is £14.99. If the dvd doesnt arrive back at the company they will probably charge you the full retail price (new ones about £18! plus compensation of about £10). Might even charge you a bit more for fraudualent activity.

Oh here we are, and i quote from the t&c's:

"We reserve the right to charge a replacement cost of up to £20 for any non returned DVDs" Not to bad.

Also they may even contact your card issuer as someone has already stated because you have technically commited fraud, so this could affect future cards/loans/contracts/mortgages/everything!!

I feel really sorry for you as this could potentially cost you £34.99+ (and have fraudster next to your name!!).....and at the end of that there is no guarantee of credit on the freeipod.com site after all the trouble you have caused. What were you thinking!!!

Good luck, but learn by your mistakes!!, i hope you dont get charged but by doing all this it is really likely!!!

RE: DiscoDJChris

Yes, I can see a few stains appearing.

Maybe I should fill it in properly, and notify them of my address change?

RE: Different email addresses with affiliates

too little too late comes to mind.... You really didnt think things through did you? The mind boggles at why you thought it was neccessary to fake address info, surely your CC details are what your worried about?! And we're talking FREE DVDS, why would you want some stranger getting them?!

Sam, freeipods.com changed the wording of the offer a good while ago now, at least a month, maybe 2. All I was saying was I know a good number of people (lets face it ScreenSelect is the most popular offer out there) that have done the trial, been credited, and cancelled before the end SINCE the change of wording and not had credit revoked. HOWEVER, I in no way endorse this behaviour, and will not accept liability if you think my experiances constitute evidence that trying to be sneaky is acceptable. I don't want anyone coming running back complaining if it doesnt work, they could have further changed their policy. Until some1 experiances having their credit revoked for cancelling too soon, then the above still stands in my eyes, but what's the point in risking it?

I've tried to outline why the sites say what they say about DVD trials here, and I won't post that on exceem in case I get them into trouble (is what I already said too inciting?!)

Anyway, if someone can contradict what I am saying through personal experiance (ie u had ur credit revoked), then please pipe up because u'll be helping everyone out!

Cheers,

Si

Hi Toon,

Most sites have in the terms users explaing how to cancel offers without fully completing will result in accounts being placed on hold.

For your benefit and others - i've removed your link.

is it a good idea to have somebody who is prepared to rip folk off, potentially able to trade with you or me, you never know he might be on congas or referrals under fake names too!!!

what are your thoughts - i know he has confessed but still?
