AA Credit Card - Calculations?

Ok, for some calculations I am writing up, I need to know a ball park figure for what percentage of sign ups will actually be accepted for the AA Credit Card.

I'm looking for a really ball park figure, I have absolutely no experience with credit cards, and as I'm a student, I was turned down for it. I have no idea whether it is 10%, 50% or 90%!

Also, do you have to do anything after the sign up, or can you just keep the credit card, and not use it, and therefore not pay anything..?

The more credit cards you sign up to and get refused the worse it makes your credit rating.

There is no real way of guessing this, as every application is different, and assessed individually.

You may get 10 people with really poor credit ratings apply, and get turned down, but you may also get 10 people with great credit rating apply and all get accepted. It all depends on the 'risk' the banks think you are.

The only stats you could use is to try and find some past information regarding how many people have applied and been succesful say for 2009, then make a projection from that.

But good luck with that

I know that, but I literally want a reaaaally ballpark figure for an average person.

My estimate would be between 30-50%, so 40%. But I don't have a clue, that was just plucked out of thin air! I was just wondering if someone who had slightly more knowledge on the subject could give me a slightly better ballpark figure.

Cheers though!

How do I find out my credit rating? Also will having a student loan make my credit rating worse.

Sorry to go a bit off topic.

hamd01 is on a distinguished road
I really dont like the AA offer. I completed it myself, and went through the online application. At the end of the entire process a message came up saying that they would phone me shortly as the required more information.

They never did phone me, but a few days later my CC arrived in the post.

The offer didnt track as completed, and I spoke with Richard (fj) who said that it hadnt tracked because the application hadnt completed online. Obviously no fault of FJ.

The cynic in me says that just by displaying the message "we need to contact you for more information" they have got-out of having to pay any commision to freebiejeebies. They didnt contact me, they just sent me a Credit Card in the post. Wonder how many of my potential greens have also had this problem.
