Clarification and Changes to our improved custom order rates

All,

We have had some queries about our improved referral rates for custom orders, so thought it would be useful to include this information here. We have changed the rates slightly so that items costing more than £500 will now attract an improved referral rate, and the full rates are as follows:

An item costing up to and including £500 is £20 per referral

Between £501 and £750 is £21 per referral

Between £751 and £1000 is £22 per referral

Between £1001 and £1,250 is £23 per referral

An item costing from £1,251 is £24 per referral.

This only applies to single items costing these amounts, not multiple items in the same order. These rates also only apply where the gift rate is used (i.e. where UK VAT is included in the cost of the item).

Our cash/voucher rate is £17 per referral, or equivalent in other currencies based on the prevalent exchange rate. Items for gifts purchased internationally are also calculated at the cash rate since these do not include UK VAT.

Enjoy

It would take several of our low-paying popular offers to give us a significant pay rise

This is great, thanks.

Makes a big difference. 53 refs = £901 cash or £1272 value of item.

Pretty much wherever a site can deliver to an address that isnt the bill payer and as long as they look legit.

Is the custom item only available for some of the FJ sites? I'm on select.fJ, and I haven't seen any details of custom orders. How do I do this?

so im thinking of doing a custom order but im a little confused. I know i can just submit the ticket and see the quote they give but...

Im in Canada and not sure what site I should use to get the quote, like amazon.com or amazon.co.uk . As far as the referral rate I dont know if its better to find something in pounds and use international shipping or something in USD which seems like the referral rate is much lower (only 17 versus 20 something). Or would something in usd but worth 17 pounds and just use the usd exchange rate or.... Im just confused I guess.

For international users the rate is always £17 per referral and we calculate the quote based on the exchange rate at the time. You could use amazon.ca to get the quote?

thanks Ill submit the ticket and see what the quote says. I can't use amazon.ca cause its sucks quite honestly, it has nothing on it but some books and stuff, no electronics, at least none of the ones i ever search for.

I just realised... £500/£20 = 25 but £501/£21 = 24 (rounded up)

hmmm... save a green...?

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well, ifreezone.

The system should be progressive to avoid that problem, although it would make it too complicated I think.

So apparently this is not true. I have greens on the select site, sent in a support ticket to get a quote on a custom order and was told it was not available through the select site. So everyone just be aware of that.

Only because we don't offer custom orders through the Select site. This thread relates to custom orders, and applies to the sites that have a 'custom order' gift option.

Oh, I've been meaning to ask this:

If you have an item worth £1,000... is the whole lot worked out at £22/ref (46)

or

Is it done in increments: £500 @ £20 + £249 @ £21 + £249 @ £22 ?? (25+12+12=49)

if you had a gift that was £499 you would need 25 refs so the first one is wrong.

ref rate only goes up at £501
