![]() ![]() | Question about forwardingHi, Just wondering if this is allowed: On my page explaining about how the freebies work, I currently link to my FJ referral link - e.g. consoles.freebiejeebies.com/1234 I want to change it so that when the visitors click on the link to FJ they're taken to a php file which first logs the click in a database, then forwards them to my referral link. It doesn't frame the page or anything, once they're on FJ it's as if they just clicked on consoles.freebiejeebies.com/1234 and they can see that address in the address bar. I'd like to set this up so I can see how many people actually click onto the freebie site after looking at my blog, then from that number now many actually sign up, then go on to complete an offer and so on. Thanks

![]() ![]() | I already have a counter from StatCounter on my blog. But I want to know how many people actually click on my referral link and go to FJ after reading it. Does Google tell you where the visitors went after they left your site?

| Looking for a new job!! | As long as there is no URL masking and the person actually ends up at the Fj site without being in an iFrame or internal box then I don't see why this would be a problem. It is just like somebody clicking a link here on exceem in the extra area that is redirected through a external redirect. You still end up at the page with the full address in the address bar so no URL masking.

![]() | are u allowed to do this. When user hovers over your link in the bottom left corner it will show something like Consoles.FreebieJeebies but using some javascript it will actually go to http://consoles.freebiejeebies.co.uk/reflink is this url masking and is this allowed? |

| Looking for a new job!! | That may be URL masking as you are giving the impression that they are not going to a referral page but directly to the site. Although this one would be one for Rich to answer

The thing you described above about changing what's shown in the status bar would be a bit devious and is verging on URL masking, but if when they click it they can see the real link in the address bar I would think it would be acceptable. That said, changing what's in the address bar will only work in Internet Explorer and I don't know if it'll even work in IE7 or 8.
