What happens if I signed up at a friend's house? Would it be possible to somehow change the 'home' IP address for my account to my actual home IP address so that my friend could sign up or is that not possible?

Not sure tbh. Your best bet is to check the IP using a website such as What Is My IP Address? - Lookup IP, Hide IP, Change IP, Trace IP and more... because that will tell you the external IP address.

Nope, IP addresses are stored automatically and we can't change the IP address manually. If you have created an account but haven't completed an offer, we would allow you to have your account deleted so you could sign up again from home (if you signed up previously using a referral link, you must sign up again using the same referral link). Please contact us through Support for this to be done, and explain the reason for the account deletion request.

If you have already completed an offer, I'm afraid we can't do anything and your friend must not sign up or complete an offer using the same IP that you used.

I don't see how you could change the ip so many times on a single laptop. Don't computers have just one ip?

The IP address that is logged relates to the connection you are using and is assigned by your ISP. So, you could take your PC to ten different houses and if they all used different ISP, you would get different IP addresses.

So, no, it is not the internal IP (if there is such a thing) that counts.

That is why Uni students all using the same connection may well all have the same IP addresses.

OK, my bad. I guess I meant it the other way around!

I really need to go speak to my Uni IT guys and find out where all the different IP addresses on Campus are! If there are say 8 areas of the uni that have different IP addresses then I could get 8 sign ups! (Am I right??!)

no as the gateway ip for all the computers will be the same.
only way round it if there were 2 or more networks using dif routers to access the real world.
leeds uni has 2 networks, Janet and slower leedslearning.net

Please, please clarify this for me:

1 - I cannot get students in my UNI to sign up because they will all be using the UNI computers and therefore the same IP = no credit for me right?

2 - Will my account automatically be put on hold if more than 1 person signs up and completes an offer from the same IP? Even if they are clearly a different person from their CC details etc?

1. Yes that is correct.

2. No their account will be placed on hold, effectively losing your referral or credit or green, however you wish to refer to it.

So if you get 13/13 greens then you verify yourself and 10 of those are put on hold your new green total will be 3/13.

Hope that helps.

Couldn't you just get your friend to sign up at your house, that way it's still two different ip's.

Well I don't think that would really work either seeing as I log in on my IP every day, it doesn't matter anyway, he's going to sign up on my select.fj account.

IP addresses are logged on our sites when an account is created, and when offers are accessed/completed.

IP addresses are not logged for other account access, so it would not matter if you sign into your account at uni or anywhere else for normal maintenance/viewing.

Also, you may find that networks at unis use different IP addresses for each log in. I would still recommend (as someone has said in this thread) that if you are asking uni friends to sign up for you, you ask them to do so from their home rather than uni to avoid IP issues.

We tried to be lenient on this issue some time back but our advertisers don't have a liberal view and will refuse to pay us for shared IP offer completions. This is why we have to stick to the rules and cannot pay out for referrals sharing your IP address (or sharing the same IP as each other).

OK

so if i sign up on FB Apple and complete an offer, can I sign up on FB Gadgets with the same ip and complete the same offer (if for example the free trial has expired or I use a different CC)?

Can I sign up with the same IP and complete a different offer?

IF my cousin wants to complete the offer but doesn't have a CC, can she use my CC for the offer?

She will have a different IP and account but she will be using my CC, is this allowed? How many times can I use my credit card if I am paying on behalf of someone else (on a different IP of course)?
