yup - u won't be able to get them to be referrals - unless they sign up somewhere else (at their work place maybe? or their gf/bf's house?)

hiya, my mate hasnt got internet atm, so i was wonderign if he could do it from my house. Even though its through the same wireless router, if he connects using a laptop, the ip is difefrent (i get a diff ip everythime my modem restarts)

so can he do it from my house, or should I tell him to go to the internet cafe (hes a bit worried about entering his details onto a comp on an internet cafe)

cheers

Don't risk it, get him to sign up somewhere else, otherwise you risk getting both yours and his account placed on hold.
And when you say you get a different IP address, it's unlikely you mean external IP address, that stays the same for most people.
It's your internal IP that gets re-assigned, but the network owners only see the external IP.

No because even though your router assigns a different ip to your laptop each time, that is only the internal ip address. Freebiejeebies' IP Policy goes on your external ip address which is what the rest of the internet sees you as, and this is fixed and applies to you whole household.

EDIT: Oops, didn't read Dedodido's post properly. It says pretty much the same, sorry!

I'd say that was a big no.

Data protection and all that. Why would you need them anyway?

Hey all, ive read through this whole topic and still cant come to a conclusion about this situation. I live with my girlfriend and we only have a laptop. My girlfriend's mum wants to sign up as my referral but their computer is broke. Can i take our laptop round to them and use it to sign her up.

I apologise if this is a similar question to the others but cant figure out if it is still classed as the same ip address as its the same laptop or whether it is ok as it will be a different network? Please help me. Thanks

The best thing to do would be to visit a site like What's My IP Address? Your IP is 64.92.160.74 to check it's not the same but I can't see it would be if it is a different internet connection.

It would be fine to do this as the laptop does not carry the IP address. The IP address at your girlfriends house will be different. All good.

It seems to me that the mailing address is a bigger factor than the IP one. It doesn't matter that people in my family would share an IP; all they'd have to do is go use a public one, like at the library or something. But they still couldn't sign up for any offers that I have because of mailing address conflicts, right?

Which is all rather disappointing, for sure... A convinced family would be great support for something like this. I suppose people at the same address could always share an account, in a sense...

Yep, only one account on each of our sites per postal address is allowed.

Awesome. Correct me if I am wrong then, but I signed up and completed an offer at my girlfriends house... If one of my family members at MY house were to sign up under me and complete an offer at home, this would be OK?

Also, would I then be able to still login to MY freebiejeebies account from MY house aswell as my girlfriends without this affecting me?

Edit: My reason for asking is that I currently do not live with my girlfriend, so I am at home half the week, and at my girlfriends half the week... It would be a bit annoying if I had to limit my logins to the half of the week I am at my girlfriends haha.

if you live at your house then you already have an account with that address (or should do as it says current personal information must be supplied)

no problem with logging in to check the account though

when you created an account with freebiejeebies, did you put your own address down or your girlfriends?

Ahhh, my bad. Of course, I forgot I registered it under my own home address so yeah obviously my family won't be able to join. They most likely won't I was just having a bit of a "what if" moment haha.

But logging in to my account to check my status from multiple IPs is OK? (Home, girlfriends and maybe uni during lecture breaks?)

Fantastic, thanks to both of you! I was a bit worried after hearing some other site policies about logging in from multiple IPs since I move around so much! But this suits me down to the ground, so glad I chose FreebieJeebies
