On Hold

Well if I can't get it right then the avarage Joe is up sh!te creek without a paddle

I know what the problem is (well I think I do) when i signed up (and my referrals) there were no TOS (remember when they first opened the new sites)... and then they brought in the proxy rule.
Thing is I've not had any activity on the site for months, in fact I only remembered the other week that I had referrals to cash in. Bit unfair don't you think

I didn't break the rules and neither did my referrals, but being penalised for a rule that came in after my last referral and before I cashed in.

Re: On Hold

Technically (with my lawyer hat on) the terms were not present at the inception of the contract and as such are not actionable for breach by either party.
In English (without my lawyer hat on) you signed up without the proxy rule and so it's not part of the contract you made with the network - which means they are wrong to put you on hold.

Re: On Hold

You can not ban people simply on duplicate IP addresses. NTL and AOL use proxy servers meaning many many many people have the same IP address. This is what happens when people with no understanding on how the internet and freebie sites work try and run freebie sites. Using this as a method alone will mean no one gets any item!

We don't use this method

Re: On Hold

Neither do we - it's a very lazy way of doing it; you'd have thought with a custom script that they'd use more up-to-date way of validating.

Re: On Hold

Re: On Hold

I didn't know free4me had the identical ip rule, I thought they were better than that. Can't believe they put you on hold because of it! I better go check all my accounts.

Re: On Hold

OK I got a reply from peter saying 'There has ALWAYS been a tos. I honestly have no idea what you are talking about'.

Does anyone else remember when Free4Me had a blank TOS page... I can't be the only one that remembers this surely!... was when gaming.F4M first opened (there abouts).

I know for a fact there wheren't any coz I looked daily at one point to try and find out about them delivering to the UK.

Am I going crazy?

Re: On Hold

I don't remember that the T&S side was blank but I do remember that when I first signed up to a Free4Me Site they did not have this in the T&S's..

"A user may also not sign up to our site via a proxy, which includes ISPs such as AOL."

I remember that because the only site that had that before was AnyGift4Free, which resulted in 2 of my refs was put on hold, then removed after the owner realized their misstake.. that the ISP was using a proxy, and since both my refs was from the same town, and using the same ISP.. they were put on hold.. but after some lengthy chats between them and the owner that was resolved..

I know it don't help you in any way, but Free4Me did not have it at that time, which I think was around May or so.. so if you signed up before that, you should not fall under their new T&S's I think...

Cheers
Tom

Edit: I found the thread and it was around middle of May.. maybe you should tell Free4Me what you said in that thread..

That's well outta order! ~ obviously doesn't know anything about the script she bought off the peg!

So no one on Cable & wireless, NTL, AOL, BT, Bulldog and 75% of all UK ISP's can take part on the website - madness... that's just like running a scam site (even if they have sent out a few gifts).

How many average joes know if there ISP uses a proxy! Not only that but you never know if someone else in a hundred mile radius using the same ISP has done an offer before you... or if someone 'might' do one after causing you to be put on hold!

Re: On Hold

I am so shocked over this its crazy. How on earth a network that bans users based on those using a proxy is supported here. As I said before 90% of ISPs use proxy's.

Personally guys I'd find a network that doesn't use this stupid rule. See sig for details But seriously can a Mod look at removing this sort of site as it just rings out scam to those not aware what a proxy is and harms the decent, well run sites.

Re: On Hold

As I mentioned above, when I first signed up (and when they first got supported) they did not have the proxy rule.. they did have the rule about no sign ups from public places like work places, library or college campus.. like most networks..

We are in the process of implanting a new ranking system for all the networks, so we just have to wait and see how things turn out..

Cheers
Tom

Re: On Hold

I have no doudt at all that what Woostar is saying is true, as he wouldnt publically lie and risk his and his networks good reputatation. So maybe the free4me section should be temporarily closed if this is how they treat their honest members. Yes they have to protect themselve against scammers.

But adding that term to their conditions is simply there to screw members really as a lot of ISP's use proxies.

I look forward to the ranking system!! Maybe we should be able to rank members too
