ForFree4U has a spectacular aura about

1and1 web hosting added to efree.be

We've just added a 1and1 web hosting offer to efree.be and freexmas.co.uk. To receive credit, simply take out a 'Home' hosting package. They currently have a special offer on, giving 100% off the first six months.

Cheers

My site is hosted with them. Fast and easy to use. Any questions I've had they've got back to me pretty quick, always within 24 hours.

If you don't like using a FTP client, they're web based system is pretty fast

They have handy tools as well (not sure if other hosts do) - such as a tool that submits your site to a load of search engines...and a web based sms platform. Seemed a bit random to me but an added bonus none the less

I'll never host a site or recommend anyone to 1and1. I spoke to them when I was helping a friend switch his account from windows to linux hosting. The person I spoke to didn't know the difference between IIS and Apache.

I did mention in another post nobody else on here seems to use them...so I wasn't sure if I was missing anything and exactly how much. They've been alright with me

It sounds quite similar to Sky broadband tech support telling my friend if he was meant to get a static IP it would be in the box...

O2 broadband try to bump people by offering a Static IP for extra 5 quid a month, where all of their broadband are ADSL2+, which come with static IP as standard...

Lol, you have any idea, why are they still offering 5 quid a month for static IP, even though it comes as standard?

Well, technically it's not a static IP - the IP address is assigned to the MAC address of your router. So if you change your routers MAC, you will be assigned a new IP. If for any reason you want to do it there's a few documents kicking about online showing how to do it (I can have a look for you if you like - I think it was on a forum). And theoretically your IP could change...although it really never does. If you were to call and ask for a static IP it would actually be added and provisioned on your account...so accounts aren't set up with one as standard.

If that makes sense?

I'm making a call today about getting my old job back!

If your looking for hosting, send a PM to Ilikefree, as he does hosting for 2.39 a month, with 5 addon domains, UK servers etc.

I use them for my main 2 sites, and haven't had any problems with his MSN support
