My big sign up button

Took me ages - I'm not too great at this photoshop lark.

Does it look good?

Can anyone make it better?

It's not bad, but it looks like you've just applied a default style to the button like you get in Fireworks. There's some good tutorials to make 'rounded buttons' about, and it's actually really easy to do. You should also consider creating a rollover effect and use CSS to change the button on hover.

If I answer 'yes', will that make me look good?

Ok, no. But now you mention it, it does look a bit like that!

Thanks, I reckon I'll have a go at improving it. Good idea about the rollover too.

You could try this kinda thing...

Web 2.0 style buttons | IRIS Design

Rounded Button | Pscloud

And here's a good tutorial on how to make the rollover using just CSS...

It looks quite snazzy, just there is a white background around part of it

Changed the button to something a bit more 2009.

Any good?

How do I stop the white underlining happening in IE?

It is happening because you have your links being highlighted in your CSS.

You will need to make a seperate style in the CSS for img links and use no decoration.

That looks better. I don't see the white underline, I've checked in FF and IE6 but it's not there.

I had a peek at the code you use to switch the images. Your using Javascript for the hover effect, but you should try using the CSS method I linked to above.

It's better because it means you don't have to add extra code to the HTML document, and if someone has javascript disabled then they'll still see the effect.

It also means that the full image is loaded when the page loads, and you don't have to use image preload javascript either.

I've been fiddling with the images and the tooltip for a couple of hours and I'm now happy with them.

Next step will be to implement the css rollover code and take it out of the HTML.

Thanks for the help.

edit: I know the tooltip doesn't display right in IE. Think I might have to live with that.

Managed to get the signup button working through css, but when I do the 3 buttons across the top using css they go vertically, one above the other - how do I get them back to be in a horizontal line, next to each other?

Thanks

You'll need to put them in an unordered list <ul> and then apply css to the list display: inline;

That should make them go across the way rather than down.
