What you are doing is stealing from them. I know people don't have a problem when it is an album from a multinational music group, but this clearly isn't!!

You wouldn't steal £800 worth off booze from your local offy, or an £800 car from the local car dealership, so why steal £800 of photos from a photographer?? Especially when you knew the prices before you hired them. If everybody did that he'd soon be out of business, which wouldn't be fair to him really would it?
I kind of agree... but £800 does sound really high.

I think £800 for 170 wedding photos is pretty good to be honest. I'm not sure I'm understanding the whole gist though: did you know how much he was going to charge to begin with? Can you order specific photos and pay only for them? Is he going to print them out and put them in an album?

Well he should have checked the prices before he went there! I'm guessing he did but then changed his mind after the wedding, which isn't really the photographers fault is it? There's plenty of wedding photographers around and he could have gone somewhere else if he didn't like the price, not decide to just steal.

And as had been said, that's not all that expensive for wedding photo's. I know someone who just had a book making with about 50 photo's for £220. At least if you get a CD you can print off infinate copies.

This is a little bit off topic, we went to orlando Discovery Cove and photographers were taking pictures, when it came to buying them, the photo CD of like 10 pictures costed £125. So digital photos are generally quite expensive. Especially if the company is reputable.

While you think £800 is alot, the photographer most likley has a top of the range digital slr - in some cases we are talking £5k. Then there are the selection of lenses, a average lense will cost £100 a decent lense will again be in the thousands. Then theres the flash's, filters for the lenses to give different effects, as well as the fact he will need a decent PC to process all these images and to touch up were needed etc

Dont be cheap. My dad's a wedding photographer and doesn't make a lot tbh. He does include a dvd with the package but obviously extras cost more.

What area were you married in btw? (Southwest by any chance?)
