Re: The Euro 2008 Preview/Review thread

Now we have reached the semi finals, I have to say that i have really enjoyed most of the games. I've noticed a few things since it started...

The commentators will try and find anything English in a match, whether its someone who plays in england or someone who was maybe born or played at one time in england, or maybe just someone who had an english breakfast once.

Crowds.....it's nice to hear national anthems without opposing fans booing it. It's also nice to see a lot of opposing fans sitting in the same areas without any violence. The atmosphere is great when you consider that the stadiums are small compared with top class stadia.

Players since the national anthems with pride and passion, sometimes i think england players dont know the words. I'm not being anti-english, but when you see ireland, wales or scotland etc you see passion and pride to play for their country. England players seem to look upon games as an inconvenience and a chance to get injured (or mess up their hair).

Well considering England weren't in it, I think its good for commentators to point out players English fans might know otherwise they'd just be watching 100+ players they might have never seen before.

They even pointed out the player who played for Inverness so they've not been entirely biased.

In fact I'd kinda disagree with arctic. Yeah they've been mentioning the players who play in the premiership but they've not been mentioning England every 2 seconds.
