![]() | Rolling News ChannelsI work in a newsroom in the North East so it's little wonder that we're glued to the News Channel whilst the fugitive gunman story unravels. Even when I'm at home, though, I still have rolling news on in the background. Got into a conversation in the office earlier, though. Should we really be broadcasting those sorts of images live? They've got helicopters focusing in on every detail so effectively, if 'something' happens it WILL be broadcast. Which morally doesn't seem right? But do we want to see it? Do you ever watch rolling news? Do the channels have no morals? Should they be 'live' at a scene? Or do you just find it really boring? |

![]() | I dont think they should be allowed to do it personally, the scenes that could be shown could be very disturbing to young children. Just think about the people involved in these situations, if you were related to the person that it is happening to, for instance, would you want their murder broadcast over tv?

![]() | I feel that they should not do live coverage unless there are 100% sure that nothing disturbing or offensive will happen during their filming, because if something does they may be fined and they will probably lose some of their viewing audience due to their lack of censorship. |

| Romper Stomper | No, roll out the news. I see no problem with it at all. I want to see the news and would also think the same if it was something about one of my family. People have the right to know what is going on around them and have the right to be updated constantly in situations like this. I found it fascinating to watch and I am able to see that the rest of the country shouldn't have to sit there in the dark just because it was someone related to me. If you have children there that you feel may be affected by anything that 'might' happen then turn over to Bob The Builder or something. The news is a part of our daily life, why should we make people wait just a few hours to be told exactly the same thing. Or worse, we can't see what's happening so 6 hours later the media can just make up whatever they want and we wouldn't know anything different. Keep it live.
