men women whether of the same sex mixed race what ever, should be allowed to have a ceremony whether it be a marriage or civil marriage. but religion's and society seem to have a large play in what should be allowed or not.

20 years ago when I was sowing the seeds as it were, you hardly heard of anyone who was gay, yet to day 20 years down the line I work with and have friends family and work colleges who are gay its just the norm now, people and society seem to have accepted the fact some people are attracted to the same sex.

I would say it's only people who are religious that whine and moan about gay couple's, just ignore them let them bury their heads in the sand, society will move forward and they will get left behind unless they change their views.

slightly off topic but another reason why I don't believe in any religion, I don't knock anyone's beliefs when they speak of their believes as that is their choice but I personally think its all BS.

im a devout atheist and i am accepting of homosexuality but i wouldnt say im completely comfortable with it - i mean not the degree of comfort i have about heterosexuality.

i believe that gays should be allowed to have ceremonies and civil partnerships and adopt children and it outrages me when gay people are discriminated against in terms of what jobs they may or may not get etc..

And I certainly hate the way the deeply religious feel about gays - that it's evil etc..

However, I wouldnt say that ONLY the religious have opinions against homosexuality - for example i don't believe that children should be educated in schools that they should make a choice about their sexuality - i believe that is determined naturally and i don't believe we should encourage more people to consider homosexuality than would otherwise do so anyway.

On an unrelated note, I resent the way atheists are treated by the religious communities. I believe that our views are so often bashed in such a way that were atheism considered a religion itself people would be far more disgusted. If and when organised religion is bashed in such a way there is outrage, death threats, fatwahs etc... We are not just non-believers - in fact many of us have beliefs as strong as the pope himself.
