Having said that, there is no reason why they should not be more intelligent than us (intelligence as a race is, after all, simply a result of evolution and time- if a race survives for long enough, its intelligence will increase), and personally, I think that if they do exist (and come here in their spaceships) they are incredibly clever to only abduct people who no one is ever going to believe, because even if they are telling the truth, no one else is going to believe them and the 'aliens' will remain secret. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() | To go back to the OP, you've said don't talk about the big bang as that's getting into religion and how the universe was created. So is talking about Aliens/UFOs existing is nothing to do with religion? If you believe that 'God' created the Universe and everything in it, then that also includes lifeforms on other planets. I don't think you can separate the Big Bang and the existence of Aliens from religion like the way you have. You either have to say that 'God' created everything and that's what you believe, or that you believe the evolutionary theory of life, and the scientific explanation of the creation of the Universe, Galaxies, Stars and Planets. I think that Aliens in some form do exist elsewhere in the Universe. Whether we will ever find conclusive proof of that or not is very debatable. But I think that there's soo many stars in our own Galaxy alone, that the chances of their not being life elsewhere is very, very small. As for UFOs, I'm more sceptical. But one point I always come back to is this. Since the 70s we've been sending robotic probes to look at other planets in our own solar system. Some of the more recent probes to Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn have been able to fly at unprecedented close ranges to planets. We've also only recently started using a new form of propulsion instead of Rockets, the Ion drive. So if there are other lifeforms elsewhere, they could be hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of years ahead of us in terms of technology. So perhaps any UFOs that have been reported, are nothing more than extremely advanced probes from elsewhere in the Universe. I know that's pretty far fetched, but no more far fetched than asking if they exist in the first place.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Also we need to remember how large time is. Planets change all the time and so on each planet there may have been a time in the universe's history when life was abundant on that planet but it is no longer, eg. life could have ended on Mars only two hundred years ago and we would be none the wiser. In fact, it is quite possible that Mars was brimming with life at one point. Some people believe that explains the appearance of "created" structures on Mars, although personally I believe those shapes are not created just formed and happen to look like shapes which are familiar to us, eg. the pyramids.

![]() ![]() ![]() | In all fairness crop circles aren't really to do with aliens. They are very interesting tho. But I've seen crop circles which are logos of companies. I hardly think aliens are going to come down to advertise McDonalds.

| iPod 30gb | Ok I see your point, and fair point at that, but yea obviously I believe in electrons as they are being used etc. I can't really think of a way of saying what I ment, without getting around stuff like "so you don't believe in electrons/particles etc." |

personally tho i do believe there is life on other planets because if you imagine a beach our solar system is like one grain of sand - there are so many others on the beach that we dont know anything about. so it seems favourable to suggest that on at the very least ONE of those other grains is life of some kind, whether intelligent or not. with ghosts however, its different because we have no reason to believe there is an afterlife at all, yet we know for a fact there is a universe.

| iPod 30gb | Damn, I just wrote a huge post but I accidently clicked a link. Anyway, in a nutshell, I have no doubt that there are aliens visting us: Size of universe (billions of galaxies each with billions of stars) Countless people coming forward saying we are in contact (Edgar Mitchel, 6th man on moon being one of them) See: The Disclosure Project - Home Page "On Wednesday, May 9th, 2001, over twenty military, intelligence, government, corporate and scientific witnesses came forward at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to establish the reality of UFOs or extraterrestrial vehicles, extraterrestrial life forms, and resulting advanced energy and propulsion technologies. The weight of this first-hand testimony, along with supporting government documentation and other evidence, will establish without any doubt the reality of these phenomena." Metals being found from crashes/abductees which have been scientfically proven to be not of this world. Sorry for the vargue post but I spent ages writing a post with references etc all to be lost. Maybe I will elaborate another day when i am not so tired.

| iPod 30gb | My opinion is very simple. If life evolved here without intelligent oversight and design then chances are it has done so over the infinately vast universe. This is for another discussion but I myself don't accept the grand picture of evolution from molecules to man though I do accept mico-evolution or simple variation (which is not the same). This is not my religious bias as I severely lack such a thing but I'm just not convinced. As Mulder would say, I want to believe. |

![]() | I believeI believe that there are aliens out there. i saw somebodies post (near the front) that says that science has proved that we are the only inhabitable planet in the universe which is just not true. scientists havent even seen 0.000001 percent of all the planets that there is out there. (that number was of the top of my head, so it could be more, or could be less... but proberbly less) here is one example that was in the news a few months ago: Astronomers find first habitable Earth-like*planet » Features | EarthSky there's a lot more... just type scientists find earth like planet. into google. i also saw a post that said something about; "why do people believe that aliens have to be better and more powerful than us" (or something along those lines)...... well, they dont but it is likely that some will be very powerful and some might just be little organisms. with the amount of planets out there... who knows what they will be like (if aliens do exist of course and with the mars thing.. maybe aliens did exist on mars. but with reguards to some of the alien made features you should read this: ESA probe confirms Face of Mars is a naturally formed hill : Space Last edited by refmaster; 17-07-09 at 05:56 PM.. |

| Shoryuken!! | Lets be honest, We as a race are very basic, we start wars over things like the existence of gods (which also cannot be proved) .... we have so called experts changing their minds every other day on the things that are and are not good/bad for us. Yet even the simple human race can put a man on the moon and get to within touching distance of Mars, we have space stations that constantly monitor the universe and telescopes that can see milions of years into the future. It has been proven that there are loads of planets yet to be discovered, so surely on at least 1 (if not many more) of those planets there must be life. I do not see how we can be the only ones, surely the odds would suggest that there would be more. Thats my 2 penneth worth anyhow..... |
