Do you think the World will end on Dec 21, 2012 ? Mayans predicted long ago and i want views from the people who believes in this end-of-the-world prophecy and those who disagree.

If yes, state the reason (Solar Flare, Tsunami, Earthquake, Asteroid, World War)

I very much doubt it. The mayan long count calender ends on that date and think it's been distorted down through tales and myth that the end of the calendar is the end of the world.

Film looks good though.

In which chapter does the Bible say that? Sounds pretty accurate to me!

I don't think it's only the bible that has predicted that we'll wipe ourselves out and I don't know about there not being enough stability to prevent it in the next three years. There are some lunatics out there like North Korea who seem to want to make some trouble.

I'll be pretty miffed if we do f*ck things up that badly that the world ends in 2012 - I'm a necrophobic (fear of death)!

But that doesn't make sense, if the world ends it is likely you will know nothing of it and you will die in an instant! As i see it there will either be nothing or good after death anyway, i find myself not afraid at all of death personally, not found many other people with the same frame of mind lol

Yes but just the thought of there being nothing upsets me, as I constantly ask myself "what's the point?"

At least have respect for my views, rather than saying they "make no sense" and "lol"... I'm not the only one.

EDIT: Unfortunately I must spread reputation around. Count yourself lucky! Your post was downright disrespectful, and in my opinion in breach of the rules of this forum.

I dont want to die, but at the same time... i dont want to grow old and would rather die before i became really old and frail.

Im interested as to what happens when you die, i personally believe in reincarnation but is a debate for another time

Don't be silly, i wasn't laughing at your views or anything like that!!! Many people are afraid of death, i respect that. I was just saying there's no point being scared for 2012 for a silly prophecy (look back at the year 2000 prophecies). I was saying if you die you won't really know anything of it whilst living as i'm sure it would be a quick death like a nuke for the whole population to be wiped out!!

How weren't you laughing? Read over your post again and then look at it through my eyes.

I'm not scared of the feeling of dying, it's just the thought of there being sheer emptiness if the world was to end.

Yeah... the mayans (Who didn't manage to predict the end of their own civilisation) would definately be able to predict the end of the world.

I reread my post and it seems pretty evident i wasn't laughing at you? I was just saying you won't know nothing of it if you do die so there's no real point trying to worry about it. I'm not being nasty , the only time i said lol in my post was that i've never really come across people with similar views as me there, and it was hardly used as something i laugh to just something to tag at the end of a sentence.

being an agnostic i also fear death as i dont believe there is anything once your dead, i can understand why people would think there is as its a comfort to think you will join loved ones who have already passed away.

but imho once your dead your either worm food or dust.

We're heading off topic here...
"that doesn't make sense" - suggesting that my views are invalid;

"not found many other people with the same frame of mind" - singling me out, suggesting that my views are massively different (even if they are different, so what?);

"lol" - this can be interpreted in two ways. You're either laughing because you don't know of anyone else with similar fears to me, again singling me out. Or you're just laughing at the overall concept of my views.
Your post showed total lack of respect, and in my opinion went against the rule "respect their opinion as you would want them to respect yours".

Not posting any more in this thread about your lack of respect, let's stay on topic.

EDIT: Harvez, that's the second post of yours I've thanked recently. What's going on!? lol. Only the top part though, as I hope that there is something that follows death, I'm just not entirely sure what.

Mate you are being far too touchy, i'm going to leave it as that i didn't mean to offend you and i am sorry if i did but you really must be looking deep into a post like that and there's no need to. I said i respect your opinion, like many other people's opinions will be the same.

I would call myself agnostic too in the past, but i'm not so sure if i'm agnostic then thinking about it. I mean i'm not sure whether there is a God, but at the same time i think there could well be and hope there is. But i don't believe it would be linked to any religions on Earth. Is there a classification for that?

Back on the world ending... I don't know where my views on life in general lie.

I have a religious side, a confirmed Christian, and believe in God. I also believe in some scientific theories which contradict the Bible. A debate on God would turn out to be really interesting; shame it got closed almost instantly though!

Has this Mayan theory been enforced by science? Or is it just a theory?

EDIT: Harvez; I don't hate you, I just hold a grudge!
