I dont see it as cashing in (other than private indivdiuals selling MJ stuff for way over the true value), a business is there to make money so should exploit every opportunity to generate revenue.

The fact that Amazon for example orders more MJ CD's from the supplier and makes a few banners doesnt increase their sales, its because they are in demand. The sad thing is that a lot of people are only just realising what an amazing performer he was (with the massive increase in MJ songs on the radio, i actually cant remember the last time i heard MJ on the radio prior to his death!) so are now buying his music - even ive ordered 2 of his CD's.....is that so wrong?

Exactly. I dont mind whether ppl's opinions are that its wrong or right, just that ppl see that it cannot be wrong for one person and right for another.

Saying the news has to report it isnt the point because sooooo much stuff happens in the world and goes COMPLETELY unreported. And when something is reported it can often be a small paragraph alone. So you have to take into account the AMOUNT of coverage a story gets.
You need to remember that it costs money to fill pages with content so that content needs as many customers-per-square-inch as possible. So when there is a huge demand for MJ tributes and articles they fill half the paper with spreads and pullouts (which goes far far beyond their remit of simply 'reporting the news') and they make bucketloads of cash in the process!
So when you remember that the news industry is a business enterprise, not a public service, then its easier to understand how what they are doing is ABSOLUTELY no different to a vendor selling MJ shirts because they are in hot demand.

I'm not quite getting what you mean? Isn't it the same thing. Generally people will do what they think is right, which a lot of the time will actually be wrong.

Rephrased: I don't care whether people think "cashing in" is wrong or right, as long as people see that it cannot be wrong for one person yet right for another.

I think you misunderstood. The key word in that sentence you put in bold was the first "that" >>>

I dont mind whether ppl's opinions are that its wrong or right, just that ppl see that it cannot be wrong for one person and right for another.

Sorry, but i'm confused mate, maybe it's because i'm a bit tired, but i don't really see much of a difference. You can be right in someone's eyes and wrong in someone else's.

Lol, im not talking about opinions.

What im saying is that its either right or it is wrong. If you think its right thats fine. If you think its wrong thats fine. What im saying is that no matter what your opinion is, it cannot be right for one person to "cash in" and yet wrong for another person to do exactly the same thing.

Understand?

Isn't it just the same as funeral companies making money from other people dying?
